Brenda Braxton is ALWAYS coming back to play Velma... but it's ok... i think she's amazing
(and an EXTREMELY nice person!)
wow, i just saw her in the tour on the 17th.
that's really soon.
i really liked her. IMO she did an amazing job.
does the tour have different chorogrpahy?
wasn't brenda braxton one of the first replacements for velma (i believe either #1 or #2)? I think they should just make brenda, brent barrett, charlotte d'amboise, and roz ryan apartments in the theater
I think Brenda started as Velma on the 3rd national tour with Bianca Marroquin and she went to Broadway later.

Rob will be back as Amos on January 9th and will stay through the spring. Wait to see him if you can, He's the best Amos and together with Bebe will be great.
I've seen Chicago before... But I'd be happy if I saw it again with Bebe!! :)

I saw Chicago on tour with Bianca Marroquin as Roxie. She is the only Roxie I have seen.
I am seeing Chicago with Bebe as Roxie on January 10th and cannot wait to see this!
i wish someone would actually post a review well can't wait to hear how it is...
Bebe's Velma replacement was the sensational Ute Lemper. I believe that Sharon Lawrence replaced her after that (for a limited engagement run).
Brenda didn't start playing Velma until about 2003 if I'm not mistaken.
She is just in the show SOOO much, it's like she's been there forever.
Now Charlotte is a different story, she's been playing Roxie since 1997.
Plus big kudos to Michelle Robinson who's been on Broadway in the ensemble since 1997. She sensationally plays Liz, and understudys Mama.

Michelle Robinson has one of the best monologue deliveries.
I would love to see her as Mama.
I plan on going in Feb. I've never seen Bebe perform live.

Can't wait!
I can't imagine her wearing that outfit, because it looks like the Velma outfit, as well as the Velma hair... I know some Roxie's have sported the short do, but how is Bebe's hair in the show?
do you think she'll wear nancy hess's old BOZO THE CLOWN wig? that was one of the scariest things i've ever seen on a stage (the wig - not nancy hess) I passed by the theatre this morning and there are no photos of bebe anywhere.....yet.
Reading this thread is making me excited to see the show. I am going on the 25th of January...but I would really like to read a review or something...anyone?!!?
I saw the show last night. Bebe was magnificent. She was a great Roxie.
I first saw the show a few months ago when Rita Wilson played Roxie. I was disappointed. Although I also saw Brenda Braxton in that performance, who is wonderful, Wilson's performance was so flat that she ruined the whole show for me. I decided I would never go see the show again. But when I heard Bebe was coming back I rushed to get a ticket. Shelit up the stage and completely changed the essence of the show for me.
While I have your attention - does anyone know the exact quote Roxie says that goes something like this: "I’m older than I ever intended to be (on being?)"

The Weisslers are notorious for having the WORST wig budget....Can't wait to see what dust mop they give Bebe.
ROXIE: "I'm older than I ever intended to be"
Deena, the first thing I thought of was Brooke Shields' horrible, truly horrible wig when she played Roxie. The 10th Anniversary wig was nice, but the version she wore during her original run was dreadfully unflattering, I kept thinking why bother?
oh my gosh, I'd DIE to see her as Roxie!! You've never seen Chicago until you've seen Bebe.

Bebe's wig is sort of like a curly bob...I thought it was kind of cute, though it could use some taming. In the monologue, she's the "cute, raven-haired chorine."
When I saw Brooke it was her first performance and they hadn't put a wig on her yet...her hair was just up in sort of a twist...it looked much better than the wig!

Thank you for the quote.
I liked Bebe's wig too. It suited her and her interpretation of Roxie.
