Agreed. I think this production would be much better off as a tour rather than on Broadway.
Agreed as well, maybe it could retune itself at every tour stop (provided that's allowed with union rules) and make a stop at Broadway to become tony eligible a/la Christmas Story and Bring it On. Then it goes quickly to have rights available to schools and community theatre.

I think it'll take the Marquis once ON YOUR FEET closes. I'd expect it here by Fall '17.

I like the touring idea, but they would have to retool the set a lot. The way it was built in Chicago would not be conducive to a national tour. There were Rube Goldberg-esque contraptions in the boxes, and they built over the lip of the stage.

Yeah, unless they did a 3 stop tour and each one being a mini sit down, I don't think touring the show would be the best representation for it.

And as long as we're on the topic of the scenery, let's face some financial realities. Sponge Bob closed in Chicago FIVE months ago yesterday. If the elaborate and extensive scenery, props and costumes have been in storage all that time, I've been previously informed that such is fabulously expensive and is one reason why when a show closes on Broadway that has no intention of touring everything is scrapped right away.
So if the producers do intend to pick this show up off the floor again at some point, all the rental costs etc. have certainly added considerably and then some to the show's overhead.

This show is still happening. Fall 2017. Cast Recording as well. Nickelodeon is lead producing, this is all a drop in the bucket for them.

Truth. Nick doesn't care about rental fees. And for all those saying no to touring, this show will eventually tour. It might open on Broadway and then tour, but it will eventually tour, so yes, this will be designed to tour. Much like Wicked - which on Broadway has a built out proscenium - this will be redesigned to tour easier.
