I feel like we would have gotten an announcement by now if it was still opening this summer with tickets on sale, cast, etc? Are they waiting for a show to announce its closing?
A Hairspray revival was never formally announced. Jack O’Brian said in an interview last year that “we’re trying to bring it back,” which likely fell somewhere between “extremely early discussions” and “wishful thinking.”
Seemed odd that they were trying to bring it back to Broadway after touring the non-Equity tour for the last few years. Would’ve made more sense if they’d gone the MAMMA MIA route and had an Equity tour that made a stop on Broadway. But who knows? If they could get a star as Edna, I could still see it happening.

Yeah, I was hoping we would get a limited run on Broadway to celebrate the show 's 20th Anniversary, but instead we got a non-equity tour.
Same.. and at this point, they might as well wait until 2028 and do a 25th Anniversary Revival on Broadway.
Is the non-equity tour still continuing into 2026?
