For those of you who've seen advanced screenings of the movie, I was wondering if they've kept the overture in. Sort of like how they played it over the opening sequence in "Chicago" or played the "Ballad" over the opening credits of "Sweeney Todd."
It's such a fun piece of music I was hoping they found a way to incorporate it into the film.
"I love talking about nothing. It is the only thing I know anything about." - Oscar Wilde
Nope. Numerous instrumentals (and portions that appear in the Overture and Entr'acte) do appear throughout the entire film as underscore, etc.
An instrumental of "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" plays over the opening main titles of the film.
I'm sure 40 years ago the full Overture and Entr'acte would have been included in a special roadshow presentation of the film. Movie audiences today would be getting restless if this was included today, especially after sitting thru 30 minutes of previews waiting for the feature film to begin then having to sit thru a 4 minute instrumental medley before the film actually starts.
No overture. But at the Odeon in London they have Organist play a Abba melody before the movie started (think it's just form the preview week thought). It was like stepping back in time
