my experience.
yes.
That's weird. Most of my friends have seen it, and those that have seen it loved it. Meh.

Yes. No one in my town has the common sense to go see it! Bah.

Pretty much all of my friends are theatre people, and the ones that aren't wish they were (Haha), so I really didn't run into that problem!
Agreed. I've got like, a group of theatre friends and a group of non-theatre friends, and I can't convince ANY of my non-theatre friends to see it, however I finally got them to give in and they said they'll watch it on DVD.

learn to see movies by yourself.
and also, i told all of my friends to not see it because the movie is so awful.
extremely frustrating. some like it (like 2 of my friends) and the rest are like "i don't wanna see a musical! YOU ARE OBSESSED!" i just want them to see it and say "HA! i knew you'd like it!"..but some just wont give it a chance.
it REALLY agravates me when people say.."RENT?! why is it on your binder? didn't that movie SUCK?" when they didn't even see it! AHH!!
...i always say "NO. and i liked it BEFORE it was a movie..ok?"
All my friends either like theater or can be coerced. But you know, most people should be at least open minded, right? I'd go see a baseball game. Maybe.
and when people go to NYC they want to see Wicked or Mamma Mia and they won't see anything else...that is frustrating as well

actually i get frustrated because all my friends ever do is talk about how great rent is.
It's extremely frustrating!
not at all, as all of my friends DID see RENT
i didn't have this problem at all.
everyone who went with me knew just how much this show meant to me and had absolutely no problem tagging along with me to go see it. some were already fans and some not.
i was just reflecting today that in two days it will be a month since the movie premiered and how truly sad it is that this movie did not catch on and become the hit i hoped it would be.

A big majority of my friends have seen it and all loved it.
A lot of my friends are dying to see it, but are all going with me. Just lucky I guess.

Yes, it is.
But two of my friends wouldn't have seen it anyway and the other one has fallen in love with it.
I have a group of theatre friends and a group of non-theatre friends as well, but some people are in both groups.
Anyway, the theatre friends saw the movie, obviously. And the non-theatre friends all went the day it opened, at eleven in the morning. It was unexpected, but they all loved it, and pretty much all of them have seen it at least twice.
The boys especially liked it, to my surprise. One of my friends wants to go to NYC and reenact it. Seriously. It's ridiculous.

Hell, I'd go see it by myself if a theater within a 15 mile radius played it! I *might* get to see it Friday, depending on which side of the family we're going to see.
YES. Most of them are tired of hearing about it. "Yes, Ellen. We KNOW you love RENT."

while that is frustratiing (although, not for me since most of my friends are theatre people) its more frustrating that movie was bad.
actually, a lot of my friends are choir nerds and love theater so it wasn't that hard to convince them to go see it with me
I go to a performing arts school... Rent was like, the event of the year.
It did take a little convincing to get my family to go, though.

No, they didn't want to see it because they heard it was a bad movie. And look at that, they were right.
i think it's an amazing movie.
