She is only doing it for four months because she is party of the national tour for Brooklyn. It mentions that at the very end of the story.

She's far from chubby. The girl is skinny. She's lost a good 20 pounds since she was on AI (and even then she wasn't "fat").
I can understand doubts about her acting, with the exception of West Side Story (where she was fabulous) she hasn't really done a lot of acting. But her singing? Penny is hardly a challenging role vocally. Her singing won't be a problem in this role or in Brooklyn this summer. The producers haven't stunt casted this role before so I tend to think she probably earned it in her audition.
Tracy has been a wonderful Penny and will be missed but hopefully she's on to bigger and better things as a result of this role. She wasn't going to stick around forever and now it's time to see what the new girl can do.

I hope she shines in the role. It's a great prep for Brooklyn, and she'll draw in tickets. Plus, she'll be amazing.

She wasn't on last season, she was on over two years ago. Have you seen her at all since? I'd hate to spend the rest of my life judged by how I did/acted when I was an awkward, still learning 16 year old. As far as "really liking herself," there has never been anything she's done or that has been reported that indicates she is anything less than gracious, hard working, and a team player.
