JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

Touring cast of JERSEY BOYS performs a medley of songs TONIGHT!

The last time I remember Leno having Broadway on was the LA Cast of THE LION KING.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

That's the announcement thread. This is the "reminder/talk about the performance" thread.

"My Eyes Adored You" into "Walk Like A Man" into "Oh What A Night"

They sound GREAT! Looked AMAZING on television!

It was rather bland.

Well, I know which cast I prefer. re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

They are different from the OBC, but I wouldn't call them dull. A great energy!! I think perhaps the voices are too similar sounding, but there was nothing "awful" about the performance.

re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

Damn, I turned it on just in time to see Oh What A Night, which sounded nice but was just sort of "eh". Wish I had seen the rest of the medley.

re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

phew I was so afraid that I was the only one that didn't like it..it was bad...maybe my expectations were too high since I practically idolize the OBC

You could barely hear him at first until they got to the mics. Im glad they did Oh What a Night... but wheres the traditional Sherry and Cant Take My Eyes Off Of You?

It may be the "your first cast is your favorite" phenomenon at work here...

I guess we'll see what happens in three hours when the SFers weigh in! re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT! Maybe I shouldnta read this thread.

re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

I am sorry, I love JERSEY BOYS, but this was a messy performance!

And it doesn't matter which cast: Messy is Messy!

re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

Not even just messy, but Devin May is all wrong for the part and Kale doesn't sound a bit like Frankie.

I find it hard to believe that those were the best 4 guys they could find.

re: JERSEY BOYS on Leno TONIGHT!

hm, i seem to remember the OBC on tv once (i think the tonight show, but i can't remember) where it just sounded horrible on tv - i think the tv doesn't transmit the high notes very well and it sounded horribly off key. but seeing them in person, they blew me away, and i know it wasn't b/c the OBC was bad.

the SF cast is *amazing* live. if they sounded off tonight, chalk it up to poor tv translation.

I've seen the show twice here and I reaaaaaalllly beg to differ. Seeing it live and seeing a three-minute/thirty-second medley are two different things. I get the point that, like the Tonys, they're trying to sell the show, but come on.
