We LOVE the SF cast, in fact we won't rush on Tuesday nights or Wed mats because that's when CKJ's understudy is on and, even though we have heard he is good (maybe better) we feel dedicated to our cast.
Whoah...wait, Jarrod is part of the cast, too! I'd totally rush those days if I didn't work late Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Besides, you'd see everyone else you're attached to even if you saw Jarrod as Frankie.
Jarrod's the standby, BTW, not the understudy.

shesamarshmallow, enjoy the show. Jarrod is fantastic and such a sweetheart. As JLY told me, he definitely has the "heart" of Frankie.
For anyone doubting the talent of the SF cast, SEE THE SHOW. I have my preferences for certain characters, but the show was still fantastic. I have tickets to LA for two nights.
"I wish the stage were as narrow as the wire of a tightrope dancer, so that no incompetent would dare step upon it." Goethe
I saw the show on Broadway and the SF show. SF show was just as good and I had an excellent center orchestra seat close to the stage. I loved both shows. I saw Jarrod at the Wed. matinee and he was fabulous. Reminded me a lot of JLY! A real cutie. It was nice to see the guys on The Tonight Show, but not representative of their excellent performance on stage.
Jay Leon had on the Wicked Tour Cast last year to sing "One Short Day."
I'm not suprised the show didn't sell well on TV. I've always felt a little "eh" about the entire show. Guess it's something you have to see in person.
Could it ever occur to you that not every cast of a show needs to have a carbon copy? This cast is by NO MEANS a replica of the Jersey Boys in New York and IT STILL WORKS. I can understand not liking things, look at all the people who can't get over Idina, even though she *isn't* the most spectacular Elphaba. PEOPLE JUST LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS BECAUSE OF EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENTS AND BEING FAMILIAR TO SOMETHING.
I could bash the New York cast and say they are horse **** compared to SF, but what do I know? I've never seen them live. I know what I've seen from clips, but it doesn't give me a right to say anything.
Things are different. Take that 'digitally mastered' Broadway Recording outta your ass and open your mind to something fresh and something new. If it wasn't doing so ****ing well, the directors could always pull it. I guess since the cast is so horrible, they should tell the crowds in SF to sit down when they give their standing ovations everynight.
You are assuming it's just because people are not familiar with the SF cast, but you have to admit, people might just prefer the OBC and there is nothing wrong with that.
There is nothing wrong with that, I was merely stating that most are just hating because they can't get over their feelings for the OBC even though they haven't seen the SF Cast.
Of course they would like it better. It is like when I saw Wicked. I loved the San Francisco touring cast and even after seeing it in NYC, I still held onto the SF cast because it was what I first saw and it had an emotional involvement.
I just don't agree with people 'hating the cast' and 'thinking it is the worst casting since forever' when they haven't even truly seen them. Talk about worst casting? Look at all this stunt casting, but people can accept that?
Burban I know what you mean about that. The first time I ever saw a tour I was pissed 'cause they didn't sound like the CD, but I was 15! I really didn't know any better. After that I meditated on it and realized different performers perform things differently, lol. So I'll definetly go in with an open mind when/if either tour comes to Dallas.
Deven's head, as I recall was shaved when he did BATBOY. He has that kind of crazy thick hair that could be mistaken for a wig because it is so dense, but it is no wig.
yikes! i finally got to watch the performance off my tivo... what the heck! the guys didnt sing "bad"... they have lovely voices and nice harmonies... but i was really surprised at ho wmuch they soound nothing like the four seasons.
when we saw JB last year i remember walking out of the theater in awe of how much JLY sounded like Franki. what great energy.
these tour members, while very talented... sound nothing at all like the 4 seasons.
of course let me cover my ass by saying... this is only based on that 1 performance so i am not making any assumptions.
just based on what i saw, they didnt sound like the original 4 seasons.
I'm just going to chime in here for like two seconds to say that I saw Michael Ingersoll in a Chicago production of Tick Tick Boom and he was amazing in it...I can't imagine him being anything other than amazing, and he certainly deserves the role he has now :) That's all! I haven't seen the show but I have to say that I'd love to see him in anything.
