Posted: 11/4/05 at 11:24pmWell...I saw him in wicked...and I really think he was bad. Not horrible, but bad. He gets this weird accent when he sings...like a sean connery thing. It's weird.

I didn't hear any weird accent, especially not Scottish, when I saw him.
He sounded great in TTB though. And I'd think he'd probably try-out for Mark. Many former-Marks have played Jon in TTB as well.

By the end of his run, Joey was pretty strong in the role.
I am sure that you should not post such info just yet...especially not to say how one's audition is.

Posted: 11/4/05 at 11:59pmJoey was actually very good in TTB. I don't know why people are so harsh in their opinions of him.

Fiyero is a mediocre role to begin with, so it's hardly enough to make such wide-sweeping statements about his acting abilities.
Hell hasn't frozen over, it's just that someone disagrees with you. There's a difference.

*waves wand, freezes hell*
I didn't think he was too bad in Wicked. I don't really enjoy the revolving door of pop stars that Rent sees, but he can't be any worse than Drew and Joey Fatone were. The day that Roger is stunt-cast, a little piece of my heart will shatter.

People are judging Joey because obviously any actor who has been in Wicked's entire Broadway career rests on their performance in that one show!
.
I'm so sick of people knowing people such as Norbert, Idina, Kristin, even Joel Grey as "That guy/gir in Wicked!" MEH!

If someone called Joel Grey "that guy from Wicked" around me, I would strangle them.
Emcee, I think Joey McIntyre is moving away from pop star stunt-casting status, because he has had a lot of experience acting on stage. I usually think of stuntcasting as someone getting in solely on their name, and unlike the other Rent stuntcasts in the past, Joey has the resume to back him up.

Posted: 11/5/05 at 12:16amYeah, I agree. That's why I don't totally hate him -- if he got cast, I think I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

It's happened to me on more than one occasion at my school, and well, to say the least, steam came out my ears.

I just found it surprising that everyone seemed so against Joey in Rent, but a few threads below this, there was that Kelly Clarkson thread where most of the people thought she would be great as Maureen.
DRS, give me names. We'll hunt them down and force them to watch Cabaret ad naseum, like they do in Clockwork Orange.

Basically, they use these retractors to force the guy's eyelids open and make him watch these violent movies while giving him meds that make him nauseous. After that, he throws up whenever he witnesses violence.
Very disturbing movie.
