JV92 Sees Follies- Saturday Afternoon

Worley was the best of the supporting cast, IMO. She nailed Stella and of course she stopped the show with "Who's That Woman?"

"I don't think I had a gayer moment in my life than when that curtain rose up to reveal her in that white dress and Rita Hayworthy [sic] wig."
Oh come now, PJ clutching your knee had to be gayer.
Victoria owned that song like nobody else ever has. She did bring a quality to it that I don't think anyone has ever captured before.
The entire hsow was magificent but there were some real stand outs. Joanne Woreley, Mimi Hines, the new elvel of depth that Donna Murphy gave to Phyllis. My only disappointment was Christine Baranski's "I'm Still Here." I have always loved her but, this time, I couldn't quite figure out what she was going for. The song was overly affective, had a nasty edge to it and generally just a bit over the top. No need to try so hard with that song if you let the lyrics speak for themselves.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 5:01pmI wasn't clutching Kringas's knee. "PalJoey'sPal" is my bf.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 5:06pmYeah, I had no one clutching me. Just the crazy mf behind me who tried to steal my scarf.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 5:18pmSorry, I misread. It was long trip from NY back to Boston. I'm tired and not comprehending. Never the less, I'll bet Kringas has had at least one or two gayer moments than that.

Okay, so this mangled lyric popped into my head and now, not only can I NOT get it out of my head, it makes me laugh every time I think of it, which made me look like a lunatic on the crosstown bus:
I've been through Reno.
I've been through Beverly Sills.
And I'm here.
Anyone else?

As Sally says, "It IS tomorrow."
What if you were a 15-year-old boy, and it was 1971, and you were obsessed by this musical, about sophisticated 40- and 50-somethings who had made messes of their lives, with music and lyrics that were pastiches of a time and a place well before your own...what if you loved it so much you memorized every word and every note? What if it became of who you are?
And what if 35 years later you wanted to go back and see it--but you were only allowed to pick one song, one moment, one magic number from that amazing original cast and the never-to be-seen-again production...one magic Hal Prince/Michael Bennett/Florence Klotz/Boris Aronson moment?
Which number would it be?
Who's That Woman?
