Silent, Heather Headley couldn't pull Lorell off because it was out of her range. Fantasia has that high pitched shrill voice, which is similar to Loretta Divine's. It's not about who's the better singer, it has to do with voice type and range.
And what would Deborah Cox possibly be able to bring to this film? She's not bringing a name nor any great talent. I can think of atleast 20 others who deserve a part over her.

Then again, I've never seen the show, so what do I know? PLus, none of them really have star power to make people want to see it.

Anyway, I'm mostly indifferent to Jamie Foxx and Usher. As everyone's been saying, this movie will depend on its Effie. I also think that good writing and direction can wring pretty good performances out of almost anyone who isn't playing too far from their type.

I don't think Fantasia really has the acting chop to play Lorell, especially a young woman transforming into a 'real woman'...she is a mother and her maturity shows everywhere. Just my opinion.

and i am sorry if it was offensive to anyone
it was a joke get over it
and a jiggy is a black person if you didnt know

And no, I wasn't aware that "jiggy" meant black person. This would mean that Jamie Foxx has "nasty black person lips"? I'm just trying to parse your post here. Because it's kind of weird that you would be using that as an insult one second after waving a weird sort of black pride flag.

Any great talent? What are you smoking? She's a helluva alot more talented than Fantasia, that's for sure. And I encourage you to name these 20 others.

I am NOT going to see this movie. They are just butchering a musical and adding a bunch of "pop stars". I think it's a stupid idea, and its just another reason for me NOT to see the movie. Not that I was ever planning to

And as for Fantasia's already being a mother, I don't think that really matters because even though she has a mature mother vibe about her she is also very vibrant and youthful. She would have no problem doing the part. It's close to her type, so she wouldn't have to stretch too much.

Usher? ugh. Taye would have been PERFECT as C.C.
I am so excited to see who they get for Effie and Lorell.

I think Taye Diggs would have been a nice addition to the cast but he's in "Rent" so I doubt he's mad about not being apart of this flick. I'm a lil' curious as to how Don Cheadle will fit in chemistry wise.

And for those of you ragging on Usher's acting, I highly doubt you have seen any film he has been in. (And if you saw the Faculty or She's All That, it really doen't count)
