David Hasselhoff's bow on the DVD...one of THE most hilarious things i have ever seen....for all the wrong reasons, How i wish i had a clip of that to share.........LOL
Count me as one of those who thought Pellow was poor in Witches of Eastwick but, in all fairness, has anyone evr succeeded in that role? I didn't see McShane but the reviews weren't good and he's an excellent actor with loads of charisma. To me the problem with the show is Darryl Van Horn.
Hopefully they use the Broadway book as I think that one is leaps and bounds better than the licensed version. Otherwise, I don't really see much point to this since the last uk tour was such a disaster and has probably disinterested most uk audiences from seeing the show again.
I saw the UK tour and it is easily the worst thing i've ever seen on a stage. Paul gave the most dreadful performance... click tracks etc. The only thing which made it worse was i found myself hoping they would just let him mime to a cd because whenever he opened his mouth he was off key or just sounding very strained. I love this show and i agree with whomever said the girls were amazing... i hope this works as would love to see a good performance of it.
Jesus Loves You... Everybody else thinks you're an idiot!
As much as that man bugs me he cant kill this show anymore than the last UK tour did believe me lol, maybe this will be the one time he actually improves something......wouldnt that be strange lolol
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
This show only works when you've got VERY strong leads. Otherwise, you can see through the score and swiss-cheese book in a matter of seconds.
Linda Eder: No one has touched her performance as Lucy since the OBC. Sharon Brown came close.
Cuccoli: I think he's a talent and did fantastic changes to his voice for Hyde. The physicality he brought to the role was impressive, although I do think that Rob Evans had a better singing voice.
Also remember that he turned the tour of 'Witches Of Eastwick' into a huge money maker last year and that show has always been consider a dead ender! He may do the same with this one.
We walked from the Paul Nicholas show at interval, but having seen an ezcerpt from the current show on "Breakfast" yesterday, this new production seems to be a different kettle of fish. I actually thought that Marti Pellow was quite good - if you can judge from a 3 minute slab. I also enjoyed him in Chicago!!
Just back from The Churchill Theatre, Bromley. "Jekyll & Hyde" is really not as bad as some folks here would like it to be! I didn't realise what a great score the show has with easily a half dozen great numbers including some excellent power ballads - as they prepared to sing "In His Eyes" I was almost expecting to hear "I Know Him So Well". The big hit number "This Is The Moment" has probably been done to death by too many sub-standard singers that it seemed quite underwhelming. I much preferred "Facade", "Bitch, Bitch, Bitch" and "A New Life".
Marti Pellow is slightly more than adequate in the title role(s). He appears to strain to reach some of the high notes but, it must be said, his acting, especially when he turns from Jekyll to Hyde, is rather good - better than his singing in fact.
The stand-out performer for me has to Sabrina Carter as Lucy - a name to watch in the future. Sarah Earnshaw as Emma was pretty good, if a little squeaky.
If the reaction from the young ladies in the audience is anything to go by (standing ovation) then this production should do very well on the road.
Marti was a much stronger and powerful singer than I remembered and (although his accent at times got in the way) he handled the score well. Quite impressed. His acting however did leave a bit to be desired!
The two female leads were equally stunning, both seriously talented and gave great performances. In fact the whole cast were great
The sets were good, and effective.
I much preferred hearing the score on stage than I ever did on CD, occasionally dodgy lyrics and some poor script at times.
Some of the staging/effects could have had a bit more money spent and did make me smile. But I took it for what it was and let it go.
Finished in a standing ovation, including me (ok I kinda went along with everyone else). Maybe it was my low expectations, but I had a really enjoyable evening in the theatre and thats what counts. Definately one of Bill Kenwrights better shows
