Uh...did she or didn't she go on this afternoon?
as much as I'm sick of WICKED and even more sick of hearing it talked about, I must admit this is intriguing to me. I think I'd even pay money to watch this show if Jenna was playing the green lady.

Jenna went on as Elphaba this afternoon. Unfortunately I wasn't there. I have a few friends who were who really enjoyed her performance, but they haven't seen anyone else for comparison.
(eta: apparently there was a hand gesture that she kept doing that one of them didn't like. and she didn't fly at the end of defying gravity, i think because she didn't get clipped on in time. sorry, that's all i've got!)

anyone see it and can give us a review? I know she had to be awesome :)
OK everyone. It looks like I am the first person to actually see Jenna as Elphaba, so I was told that I HAVE to post something.
I saw her at the Sat Matinee. Overall I think she did a very good job. She did a great job singing.
Very disappointing was the lack of flying during Defying Gravity. It was just very awkward because she was just standing there with her broom...
My only complaint was that her take on Elphaba didn't seem confident of herself. but that could also be because she is the understudy and doesn't play the role too often.
Well I am not good a reviewing, but if anyone has any questions let me know!

yay! i bet if she played it more, she'd grow into the role and be more confident... i would LOVE to see he though... thanks AK
good to know.
wow not flying, that's embarassing. I feel for her.
Other than that, i am glad she did good.
I dont know why she didn't fly. I was sitting off to the right in the 3rd row. And she looked like she was hooked up and stuff, so I just assumed some kind of technical error.
If she isn't snapped in fully (and that's alot of costume to get around) the cherry picker's computer will NOT raise..it has to be snapped in just right or it won't work..it's happened

Have you seen the show before? There isnt much to the flying. She just gets lifted and stands there. Thats all. There is never much to the flying. Did she not even get lifted?
No..they're saying she wasn't "flying"or lifted during DG...she wasn't snapped in right so it didn't happen
yeah she pretty much just stood there on stage with the broom in her hand...
I think all of these flying mechanisms have safety features like that built in. The Chitty car does, as it didn't fly during the finale last Friday night, because the girl who played Jemima couldn't get her seatbelt buckled.
also this was her first day playing Elphaba without much in the way of rehersal...
So glad to hear positive things about her though :)
I feel really bad for her. I wonder what she was thinking
