Seeing the show for my third and final time tonight. Adrianna Hicks is on as Celie. Sad not to see Cynthia but i already have wonderful memories of her in this role.

I was fortunate to be offered a ticket to yesterday's matinee through some friends. Despite already having a ticket to the final performance, I decided to take them up on their offer to see how Holliday was. Holliday was damn spectacular. Her vocals were amazing as expected but her acting was heads above Hudson. The line "Piss God off...." was definitely in there & her "Push Da Button" was phenomenal. Her emotions were spot on & her and Erivo seem to have great chemistry. The show in general is still in amazing shape & Erivo still gives 110%. Thoroughly enjoyed Compere as Sofia as well as all the additional new cast members. Such a shame the audience wasn't really into the show until Act 2(matinee crowd) as only a few people gave Erivo a standing O after "I'm Here".

The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Saw the show the other night and thought that Jennifer Holliday was magnificent. After seeing all three Shug Averys, I thought that Ms. Holliday was almost as good as Heather Headley, in her own quirky way. I was especially struck by the scene right before I'm Here this time, and found Jennifer Holliday to be absolutely heartbreaking in that scene. Wonderful performance.

This. What Holliday does in this scene is indeed heartbreaking. Maybe it's her age playing into the character of Shug, but Holliday makes you feel for her & Celie at the same time during this scene. It also makes "I'm Here" that much better. Simply a stunning scene leading into a stunning performance of "I'm Here".

I agree whole heartedly with both of you! I was  lucky enough to see the show twice with Jennifer. SUCH an honest performance. No formality or schmacting. She just spoke from her heart and you believed her. That to me is the best acting. I totally underestimated her ability as an actress. I hope she keeps coming back to Broadway. Beautiful, beautiful performance. She and Cynthia were magic together. I also saw Jennifer with Adrianna Hicks and she was just as great.
