How is that graduating? And I'm sorry, just no.

I actually can totally see her playing Elphaba. So many people underestimate her.

I don't see why not. I love how everyone is just like, "No." I love the clarity.
And come on, you've got to admit that Elphaba is the largest and central part in the show. "Graduating" may not be the best word for it, but whatevah...
Then what about Carol Channing playing Galinda and Elphaba?

She's already Glinda. Why would she switch roles? It seems ridiculous to me.

because, i don't think she is strong enough - as far as acting goes - she's too bright, and not "dark"
it owuld be easier, i think, going from Elphaba to Glinda then vice versa

Glinda and Elphaba are the two main parts. Why would she switch from one main part to the other? Besides, she plays a great blonde (even if her hair is reddish!)

I think it's too bad that everyone is writing off JLT's acting so quickly. Saying that she is too "bright" only means that she's only played "bright" roles. Ariel in Footloose, Hope in Urinetown, Galinda in Wicked. Those aren't really the most deep in dramatic cores. I think she just needs a chance.
And why switch parts? I don't know. Because I think it's cool that someone could actually DO it.

I personally don't see her as Elphie.
But playing the two leads isn't that unususal. Ruthie Henshall has played both Roxie and Velma in Chicago. And there have been other cases similar too that.

Oh no, I'm all for opinions. It's what makes this message board interesting. I just don't really find Elphaba that challenging of an acting role. It doesn't take much for the audience to like her, as she's ridiculed the second she comes on stage and she's got a great establishing song. (Wizard & I) All it takes is an intense performer with a powerful belt. I think Idina pulled it off so well because that's what she is: an intense performer with a powerful belt. I'm not dissing Idina as an actress, I'm just saying that Elphaba isn't the most difficult female character to play.

lemme ask you this, do you see KC playing Elphaba?

That's an entirely different performer. I think you're thinking that I want GALINDA to play Elphaba. I want JENNIFER LAURA THOMPSON to play Elphaba. No, I don't even really want it. I'm just curious as to how she would do in the part. Would you ever expect Donna Murphy to be so wonderful in Wonderful Town after seeing her in Passion?

That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard. Why would she do that? She is too good to play Elphaba..

"lemme ask you this, do you see KC playing Elphaba?"
What does that have to do with anything? Just because two people have played the same role doesn't mean they're right for all the same roles all the time.

because you said Elphaba isn't a very hard role to play - so naturally a good actress could take on the role - and we know KC has a strong voice - so why not?
I am just saying - Elphaba is harder to play than you think -

I hate the Wicked people.
Let me ask you this, do you guys just post stupid questions for the sake of posting something, and to see the word Wicked somewhere in the thread title? In fact, does the word Wicked excite you? make you feel all warm and cozy? help you to sleep better at night?

Oh come on. Acting is thrown out the window in Kristin's case. I don't care if she's a fabulous actress (which she is), she can't sing that part! You can't have a little cupie doll voice sing Elphaba. That's like trying to cast Audra McDonald as Effie in Dreamgirls.
