Posted: 1/30/06 at 1:40pmJessica Simpson said in an interview after her and Nick "spilt" that she wanted to move to New York and maybe even try a Broadway show! Does anybody see her doing that? If so, what role do you think she'd go for? Just curious...

She's stupid enough to play many of the characters in a revival of Li'l Abner.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 2:13pmI could see her playing Christine in DRS. She wouldn't have to act.

Doesn't she look kind of for her age? She is only, what 22 or something.
She does have a decent voice. But not for BW.

I don't think she has the voice or the chops to play Chrisine, but (though she'd never accept that small of a role) she'd be good as the Oklahoma! girl.

maybe Momma Rose or better yet Hamlet

Did any of you see the "Jessica & Nick Christmas Special"?

Well I'm not going to bash her right now..
But if and when she does come to Broadway, THAT is when we can laugh.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 2:55pmSadly her acting is better than that wailing she calls singing. She would have a decent voice if she quit trying to be Christina Aguilera.

She should star in Showgirls the musical......

Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:01pmJessica auditioned in front of Tommy Mottola and got hired immediatly by Sony records without being slutty or having to bang Tommy (like Mariah Carey, Thalia or allegedly Jennifer Lopez) maybe her sister is not talented, but Jessica is a great singer. Her acting is decent and she has always shown some interest in being on Broadway and musical theatre in general. She starred in her high school version of "A Chorus Line" and she was brilliant. Her theatre teacher said on an interview that when Jessica left that school, she didn't know what to do with the plays she planned Jessica to star in.

i was seeing how long it would take for muscle to chime in...
Apperintly every pop singer or tv star can act and sing in his book.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:06pmLOL!!!no...that is not true, i didn't like many pop stars that starred on Broadway. I wasn't too impressed by Deborah Cox in Aida for example. And many others I can't think of. I think Britney Spears(who was offered a role on Broadway) is a good dancer...but I can't stand her voice.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:21pmJessica would be fine as Maureen in Rent, seriously. She'd probably over act and make Over the moon extra goofy, but i'd pay to see it, seriously. it'd be fun. Plus, I just saw Rent the other day and didn't think Ava was that great at all.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:25pmMuscle, are you implying that Mariah Carey is not talented enough to get a record deal without "banging Tommy Mottola????"

Wow, that's so rad!
And when I say rad, I mean rad like getting a cavity filled without novacaine.
#21re: Jessica Simpson on Broadway?!
Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:42pmno i am saying she probably got her recording deal with a major record company becuz she married Mottola. Does she have talent? ABSOLUTELY! 2 different things. How many talented singers never get recording deals? or don't even get a chance to sing in front of Mottola or any big recording mogul.

Posted: 1/30/06 at 3:53pmJessica would be great as VAL in A Chorus Line! I know that she turned down the role in HS and played Cassie instead, but now I think she's "ready" to play VAL. I think it would be great!
