According to posts on Facebook - I won’t link them but if you search John Herrera they will show up - this talented man has died.
An incredible career, his IBDB listing is a resume of dreams.

That is sad news. So talented. Seeing this brought back a memory of seeing him as Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. When the actors are campaigning to be chosen as the murderer, he was in our section. "Vote for me! I did it!" he said, as he stormed in. My friend who was with me told him we were voting for Jana Schneider's Helena Landless, his character's sister. Without missing a beat, he petulantly responded back, "But she always gets to sing the song!" RIP.

He was Anatoly in the 1990 Chess tour. I saw him at the Bushnell in Hartford. Carolee Carmello was Florence in that production.

Very sad. And I will say it was a shame he didn't transfer to Broadway with In the Heights, he was a huge part of why I loved it Off-Broadway.

I wonder why he didn’t transfer. Does anyone know whose decision that was?
