Can't McCormack be seen as B-List now that his last show tanked?

I could see Eric McCormack being an appropriate (and appropriately B-list) choice.

I think Karen Olivo would be an interesting choice for the role, but coming off creating a role in an original musical and winning a Tony for the role she's currently playing, I can't imagine what it would take to get her to replace a role in a limited-run non-profit show.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

BYE BIRDIE BIRDIE was always announced as a Limited Engagement. Stamos and Gershon signed contracts for this Limited Engagement run. Shortly after the show opened it was announced that the show would continue past its originally announced end date. Stamos and Gershon, 2 actors that are always working, most likely had projects set to begin AFTER the slated Limited Engagement date of BYE BYE BIRDIE therefore can not continue their run in BYE BYE BIRDIE even if they chose to. I'm quite sure the ensemble cast is thrilled that their employment has been extended though unfortunately it will have to be with 'new' principals, etc.

This has happened before with the recent Roundabout revival of NINE -- Antonio Banderas, Chita Rivera, Jane Krakowski and a few others couldn't continue with the show when their Limited Engagement was extended (commitment to other projects booked BEFORE the show even started) so the show continued with replacements: John Stamos, Earth Kitt, etc.

I'm not sure Stamos is the draw everyone thinks he is. The play itself is what people wanted to see. The movie that many people grew up on was a huge fan favorite. That's what I attribute the extended run on. Believe me, Stamos can easily be replaced. He is not a musical comedy actor.

Stamos is DEFINITELY a draw for this show. After each performance the stage door is mobbed with people who want to meet "Uncle Jesse".

The show is definitely extended through April. I had a rather lengthy chat with Dee Hoty and she mentioned it to me about a week ago.

Roundabout is looking at Hunter Foster to replace Stamos...

Gina's contract is up January 11th and they were looking at Andrea Burns, but have now moved on to Stephanie J. Block (she is seeing the show on Tuesday).

Gavin Lee and Stephanie J. Block did the workshop.
