The rumor as of late has been that Andrea Burns was contacted about replacing Gina Gershon around that same time frame.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Brooks would be smashing, excellent singer and dancer and exceptional comedian.
I been screaming Andrea's name since this whole thing started.
Andrea's husband Peter would also be a good choice.

The production would still be a big misfire regardless of who is cast. Longbottom's direction is disastrous...and God that book!
Still, Andrea Burns should have opened the show in the first place (though Gershon and Houdyshell were my favorites). I'm sure she'll make a great Rosie.

Regarding Andrea Burns... one has to take in consideration that she IS contracted at IN THE HEIGHTS. She returned to that show after a short break, so she's expected to remain in the show for another stretch. Hopefully this 'return' isn't as long as her original contract so she could possibly be available to replace La Gershon come January 24th.

I would love to see Andrea Burns play this role. I would definitely run and see it again. I doubt Karen Olivo would be brought in for the role. My guess is she renewed WSS. Her contract would have been up right around Matt Cavenaugh and if she was leaving it would of been announced around the time his was. Just my assumption.

Don't get me wrong, I love Andrea Burns and would run back to see this if she played Rosie, but I don't see this revival lasting 'til April without Stamos and Gershon. As bad as they may be, they're the ones selling the tickets. I just don't think it will last much longer once they leave.

Brooks Ashmankas is doing Present Laughter, so you can rule him out as a possible Stamos replacement.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I'd love to see Karen in the part, so would people who pay to see her and get her understudy instead.

Wasn't Gavin Lee being considered for the part at one point? I know he's on tour with Mary Poppins right now but I'd love to see him do it, I thought he was great in Poppins.

Andrea Burns would be fabulous as Rosie.
