If you really want to help the American theater, don't be an actress, dahling. Be an audience.....
Don't be taken in by the guff that critics are killing the theater. Commonly they sin on the side of enthusiasm. Too often they give their blessing to trash...

Hi, I'm new here. An Australian departing for a Broadway binge in a few days. Sounds like a good way to meet people and be worthy! I'm not sure how many sponsors I'll find but I know three people in NY.
I might be able to blackmail people into sponsoring me from here? Send y'all a few pacific Pesos.
What I need to do is go back and read all the details. So far I've just checked my diary and scribbled it down.
" If your team has 25 registered walkers by Wednesday, May 4th, your team will qualify for a team meeting station on the AIDS Walk New York venue on Sunday, May 15th. "
I emailed the head honcho over at AWNY (and, I should mention, my email's signature is a quote from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."). Here's his response:
"Jena,
I'm sure you will be able to register 25 people on your Team by next Wednesday. Please remember that if someone registers to your Team there is no obligation for them to Walk or raise funds. Pets have even been known to make it on to Team rosters . (Actually, on our office team last year there was a dog who raised $3000 for us, we're still unsure how he did it.)
Even if you don't have 25 people on your Team, I'm going to give you a Team Meeting Station because you have a Douglas Adams signature on your Email.
Cheers!
Austin"
(And, ironically, this is the 42nd post in this thread!)

Yay!!! I signed up yesterday and my best friend is filling out the form as I type! And there was such good energy for this because I got half of my personal goal at my school from teachers and a few friends! *sigh* Oh Catholic school... I can't WAiT!
To Crazy4mattMorrison upthread who can't go 'cause you have a show - when do you have report to the theatre for that show? Maybe your show isn't in nyc, but if it is, having a show is NO excuse for not attending. I have a show & I'll be in attendence. The walk starts @ 10am - the earliest usually anyone has to be in a theatre is 1:30pm....it's only 6+ miles.
Do I dare? Do I dare? Do I dare to eat a peach? Do I dare to raise the bar, And to see if we can reach? For the goal may seem too high And we have so little time... But I'm sure that we can do it Better than I can make this rhyme!
(The bar, she is raised yet again, and I apologise profusely to T.S. Elliot for stealing his line. But then again, he owes me an apology for winning a Tony Award for a musical he never knew he was writing, so it all evens out.)
