None - the genre should cease to exist.
But if I had to, I would want to see a musical using the songs of Guster.

I've always wanted (again, if they must be done) a jukebox musical of music of The Beatles. I know they did Lennon but...I'm talkin' the beatles. It's so...I dunno, I find their music so inspiring and it evokes so much emotion and such a diversity of emotion within me...of course, they'd potentially ruin it for me forever in teh process so...lol.
I'd also like to see a musical with songs from Michael Jackson, and one with the music of Aerosmith would make me happy. Just cause there music amkes me wanna jam...

Posted: 3/13/06 at 4:02amI hope it goes away real soon. I'm afraid it won't, though and we will have to live through jukebox musicals based on the music of: The Carpenters, The Partridge Family, Olivia Newton John, Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five, Helen Reddy, Backstreet Boys and anyone else who has ever released a greatest hits collection.

If the genre isn't going to go away, then I wouldn't mind seeing a Neil Diamond musical.
No, really.

Outside of Jacko or the Backstreets, which of these artists have you heard lately on Lite FM?
And you Baby Steve apologists seem to forget that the Broadway musical is supposed to be popular commercial entertainment. It isn't supposed to be La Mama or P.S. 122 or the Public--why do you want to make it that way?
If Guettel or LaChiusa can have a Broadway hit without the sponsorship of Lincoln Center, Roundabout or the MTC, maybe I'll change my tune. But not now.

Okay, I think it depends on how you use the term "Juke Box" lol. I've been reading posts that people are worried that JERSEY BOYS is a Tonys write off because it may be considered too Juke-Boxy. I didn't find it Juke Boxy. I liked it because it was based on REAL people. Not some story made up with a bunch of ABBA songs thrown in... (Sorry MAMMA MIA)
I think that after seeing JERSEY BOYS I would like to see a musical based on Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack... not just their songs but their lives...
that's my opinion.

Honestly, before this whole jukebox craze even began I thought that a show could very easily be done of Springsteen songs. So many of songs are thematically related that coming up with a narrative thread for them shouldn't really be THAT difficult. As long as the songs were done seriously and not in a campy way, I really think it could be done. I even have the title -- Jersey Boys.
Oh wait...
