I know there's nothing special about her acting - but I adore her. This made my SUMMER!

Damn. That's a big name for Broadway.
I'm sure has done theatre before making it big with movies.

I agree completely, munku. After I wipe off my seat, I'll have to book my flight to NYC for March!

J.Ro appeared on stage with Paul Newman and others in "Stars in the Sky," directed by James Naughton as a benefit for Newman's Hole in the Walls Camp charity. I'm unimpressed with her screen performances so have no desire to see her on stage. As far as I'm concerned her Oscar should have Ellen Burstyn's name on it.

I'm sorry but I also don't get Julia Roberts, acting-wise or looks-wise.
I wish her well, though, on her Broadway debut.
Was it the role in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM that Ellen Burstyn competed with her for the Oscar? I've just seen the DVD and Ellen's performance was truly outstanding. That would also be an interesting role translated on stage.

I like her a lot, and enjoy the performances of hers I have seen. She was great in Closer. It's great when movie stars make the attempt to show the world that they are ACTORS. Until they can do it on stage, in my opinion, they are not. Which is why you will NEVER see Tom Cruise on stage. That and because there are no leading lady Scientologists who are short enough.

Oh great. Now I have the horrifying mental image of Cruise trying to convert Chenoweth to the ways of Dianetics.

This is a wonderful play and a perfect role(s) for her. Very thought provoking...it definitely takes good direction.
I worked on the show's Northeast Ohio premiere and there are pics in my fan photos. Check them out.

Well, this is certainly surprising news. Why is she doing a Broadway show? Is for the prestige of being onstage? She's a huge enough star to not need any of that. With the exception of Denzel Washington, I think Robert's name is the biggest to grace Broadway in a long time.
(And I would also put Laura Linney's performance in YOU CAN COUNT ON ME as being more worthy of an Oscar that year than Robert's.)

Wasn't her late father a theatrical director?

You know, there is no way that Julia's work in Erin Brockovich could compete with one of the finest performances ever commited to film.
Not a fan, but I will definitely get tix for this. God help me.

I hope she can translate better than Hilary Swank did in The Miracle Worker...Jesus Christ!
