Closing after seven years at New World Stages.

Never knew what this was about but always saw the ads plastered around the Worldwide Plaza.

That now makes three (possibly four - we dont know about SOELLING BEE yet) closures coming to NWS, which leaves only THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG on an indefinite run.

Wouldnt be surprised if it's all to shut down New World Stages for good

According to Telecharge Jamie Allan's AMAZE has performances until January 31st 2027. Spelling Bee is definitely on until September...do have to wonder what shows will end up at NWS after this, Black Swan perhaps?

It is Rakugo comic storytelling. I have seen his show. I watched it periodically on Japanese TV. It is very interesting to watch them train to be able to do it. They have to go through an apprenticeship. It is kind of intense. If I remember correctly, he doesn't tell the same story at each show.

I actually met him while I was living there. His given name is Gregory Robic and he is said to be one of the best Rakugo storytellers.

Curious if this means rental fees are going up at NWS or this is just a large scale coincidence?

My thought is that they are preparing to use it for whatever may come into that theater. The Bubble Show has been in that theater for years. They probably need time to freshen the theater up. When Bubbles announced, I figured this show wasn't far behind. Also, I assume that because the show only plays like once a month, it didn't make sense to keep it open. JMO
