my friend took me to xanadu last friday and i was pissed when i heard kerry gets no tony nomination this year!!! WTF she was so like olivia newton-john and it was such a good impression. i am now mad and probbly won't watch the tonys. she was so good in beauty and the beast too and nobody cared then either!

Xanadu is still in previews, if it gets any Tony nominations, it won't happen until next year's Tonys.

Kerry, and the show, were NOT eligible for Tony nominations this season. If it's still around next year come Tony time, and it doesn't garner any nominations, then you can complain.

Um, hello. The show hasn't even officially opened yet -- it's still in previews. It began performances AFTER the deadline for qualification for this year's Tony Awards. XANADU is elligible for NEXT year's Tony, so don't rule-out Kerry just yet. She can still be nominated next year.

If you think this can't happen -- HAIRSPRAY opened 2 months AFTER the Tony Awards, and was elligible for the following year's Tony Awards AND swept all the major categories including Best Actress and Actor in a Musical; Best Featured Actor in a Musical, Best Book and most importantly, Best Musical.

to be fair - there's an influx of new people which began when voting started and will probably continue through the tonys. Not every new poster is a sock puppet. The moderators have tools available to weed out nearly all of them :)

I would also question as to why the poster thinks Kerry should have gotten a nomination because of her Olivia Newton John impersonation. If that's what we give Tonys for then there are a bunch of guys in Las Vegas deserving of a Tony nomination.

Review your Basic Theater 101 before posting - no offense but for a show to be qualified for the Tonys. The show must be opened (not in previews) by May 9 and opened in a Broadway Theater (not off-broadway) In that case, 110 in the Shade was the last show to be qualified for the Tonys. Xanadu (will open on June 26) & Grease will be eligible next year, like someone says earlier Hairpray opened that summer of 2002 and wasn't eligible for 2002 Tonys, but it did win the 2003 Tonys

Any true Kerry fan would not want her nominated next to Audra and Christine-it would be a no win. Next year would be better for her hopefully. Hey, if Ebersole can win one emulating Little Edie, why couldn't Kerry for emulating ONJ.
