Pissed that I don't live in Chicago.
Road trip, especially since I mentioned Kate Baldwin as someone I wanted to see in the current revival.

It's absurd that she isn't playing this role on Broadway, but yes, road trip!
I would LOVE to see her in this, and maybe can justify a trip to Chicago for this and then War Paint in the summer. She'll be divine, but I do wish she was doing the role on Broadway.
Then again, she hasn't been featured nearly enough on Broadway.
I completely agree that she isn't featured enough on Broadway. I'd see her in anything. Over the summer, I took a road trip to catch her in Bells Are Ringing in the Berkshires. She was just so delightful, and she sang the score like a dream.

Well, this could possibly help her to get to the Broadway production.
Crossing my fingers that they broadcast this on the radio like they did with Osnes-led "Carousel"!
Oooooooooooh. I've never been to Chicago but I guess this is a great reason to go!

Or she could do the tour.
I've come to look forward to the big spring show at The Lyric Opera. The past several years I've taken my elderly grandmother with me and seeing her relive some the shows she saw as a young woman is fantastic. The casting of Kate and Paolo Montalban both is top notch and I could easily see either of them in the current LCT revival or tour, if that production does tour.
Is this the lyrics last year with R&H?
No, next year is South Pacific
Lyric always broadcasts their opening nights during the season and you can listen live on WFMT - Chicago's classical station via their website: http://www.wfmt.com/
Opening night for The King and I is Saturday, April 30th at 7:00pm
If this goes well, and the production is still running, it wouldn't shock me at all to see her named as Kelli O'Hara's eventual replacement (assuming that's something she'd be interested in).
I cannot wait to hear her unique and stunning voice sing this score.

The current LCT revival is set to launch its national tour this November. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tony-nominated-king-i-sets-793825
The bumping of the Carousel thread reminded me to check the radio broadcast details for this. It's scheduled to broadcast on WFMT at 7:00pm on Sunday 1 May (presumably CDT time zone). (Source: scroll to the bottom of http://www.wfmt.com/main.taf?p=1,1,41,83 .) You can listen online at http://www.wfmt.com/main.taf?p=4,5,28 .
Hoping somebody will record the broadcast, as they did with "Carousel" - perhaps this time without any skips.
I really want to see Kate in "The King and I" but cannot make it out to Chicago prior to it's closing date of 5/22. I am not familiar with the Lyric. Does the Lyric ever extend shows?
^ I think last year they extended carousel by a performance or two. It's an opera house so they don't really extend.
