re: Kennedy Center RAGTIME May Play Broadway

My family and I have tickets to the final performance on Sunday. I'm hoping to become as excited as you all are about the transfer, I've heard great things about this production. And it would be yet another Broadway-bound show from DC! :)

Is it quite a big production? A 4-story set? Isn't the theater it's in now quite huge? Seems like they would have to scale it down.

As you can tell by my picture RAGTIME is my favorite musical of all time. Every time I listen to the recording I get chills, the fact that this beautiful musical might get a revival would make me sh*t my pants with excitement. I would also drop full price for the best seat.

If the Kennedy Center production is captilized at $4.4 Million, how can the B'way production budget not be huge? And is their an audience for this without big (even big theatre) names?

I would have much rather the Kennedy Center MAME had transferred.

Mano has other projects lined up in San Francisco. I'll be sad to see the show transfer without him, but he's going to do incredible work at ACT, and this production deserves a life beyond these past few weeks. It's time for the show to be on Broadway again.

Why would a show with an unmemorable score and no names transfer? It would be an act of sheer fiscal lunacy.

I would LOVE to see this transfer. That's really all I can think to say. I don't want to get my hopes up too much in case something falls through!

Would there be any problems with the rights to the material? I remember that there was something about that that interfered with NYCO's cancelled Ragtime cocnert a few years ago, but I can't recall the exact details.

Dear God I Am Praying For This;? Whilst I think a Broadway transfer would be nice.... I am praying for the economy to get better,, I am praying that my 401K gets better, I am praying for the homeless person out my front door who is hungry....

Londonskyguy...we all are praying for other things AND people, too. Or at least I pray.
However...nothing wrong with praying for this one, too! re: Kennedy Center RAGTIME May Play Broadway

re: Kennedy Center RAGTIME May Play Broadway

Ragtime received much better reviews than Mame did.

RippedMan, the set is 4 levels, not 4 stories. The perspective makes it seem higher than it is, but there's only a few foot difference in height between the 2nd and 3rd levels. The Eisenhower only seats 1100, so it's not big by Broadway standards.

re: Kennedy Center RAGTIME May Play Broadway

please let this be true!!
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Why would an emotionally remote show with an unmemorable score and no names transfer? It would be an act of sheer fiscal lunacy.

Did you actually see the Kennedy center production? They may add a few 'names' to the current cast, but anyone else would quickly BECOME a name if this opened on Broadway.

I won't comment on the 'unmemorable' score bit.

a transfer would make me soooo happy! i saw this show last night and in my opinion Christiane Noll completely stole the show. That is one role that they should not and could not recast. She gave a brilliant and emotional performance, if the show does transfer i hope to see a tony nom for her
