I have the audio of this and when it starts back up you can clearly hear Kerry saying "I'm so sorry". Plus that's the best that I ever heard a Defying Gravity from her. Oh how I long for another Elphaba to actually pronounce gravity right like Kerry does.

Well, it must've have been double as scary, as believe it or not, Kerry Ellis is actually terrified of hieghts, and it took alot of rehearsal for Defying Gravity in the first place! When she comes to Broadway, you'll notice, she doesn't go as fast as normal, and stops about 1 meter lower than other Elphabas.
-------------------------------------------------------
The broadway lift is very slow(the slowest) and lower to begin with since Ana was deathly afraid of heights when she was there.

She didn't scream "Kerry". You can pretty clearly hear her say "Elphie". I think she was trying to stay in character and keep the show going, since she probably didn't yet know what was going on.
