What I initially thought was that she got on the lift, started her lines, realizing the "skirt guard" was not completely closed, and desperately wanted to stop the lift before she got 12-15 feet in the air, virtually free-standing. I thought she said "Let me out!", but maybe she does say "Let me off!" as the lift does ease forward. If so, that answers my question.
Ok, now I'm dying to hear it too. Anyone mind sending it to me please?

That was very scary to hear, thank goodness nothing happened to her.
She certainly finished afterwards with quite the performance!
I remember when I was little I started crying because I was at the top of the ladder on the playground - I can't imagine what she must have gone through- especially after hearing her cries. that poor thing- she's so great to have sung it so amazingly after that
could i get a PM too?? THANKS MUCH!!
Jesus people, you don't need a PM anymore if you click the new link that was supplied.

Holy ****. That is one of the scariest things I have ever listened to.
And I think maybe it was more of a nervous laugh than a funny laugh - if you listen to them speaking someone does say "i hope nobody was hurt".
But wow, she did sing the hell out of it afterward.

Oh, that had to be so hard for her, but she kicked that song's ass afterward.
I'd like to hear it as well.
I'm just confused as to why she didn't use the lift for the second try. If she wasn't secure on the thing the first time, that's understandable. But if it didn't malfunction and there wasn't anything wrong with it, why didn't she use it the second time around? Too shaken up maybe?
I completely understand why she wouldn't get on a contraption where she could have broken bones off of all over 5 minutes before hand.
she's big enough for getting back out there and killing it like she did.
Yeah, I agree. She really did give an amazing rendition after such a scare! I admire her for doing that.
Sorry, I didn't mean to ask for a PM. I missed that one post.
Anyway, omg!!! My heart is racing right now just imagining what she went through!! That audio is incredible!! I cannot believe that she pulled herself together and sounded that wonderful when she came back on to finish the song! What a scare!!! I seriously can't even imagine!!
Kudos times a thousand to Kerry Ellis!!!
You can hear this on The Site, though apparently it's been put up before a few times and got taken down for some reason.
I just searched for "Kerry Ellis Defying Gravity" and filtered the results by newest.
What is up with WICKED and trying to kill/maim its performers?
Kristin (messed up her neck in SF)
Idina (fell)
Shoshana (foot caught in a trap door)
Stephanie (who's up to THREE separate injuries now)
Julia (who got laryngitis, sinusitis, and the flu all back-to-back on the tour)
Kate Reinders (broke her foot)
and now Kerry...sheesh.
Has anything serious happened to anyone else?

I would guess she didnt get back on the lift because it was the quickest way to finish the show.
They didnt know if something was wrong or not
the stage manager probably said just go to back up plan
can anyone please PM me as well.?
i'd be forever greatful.
(i love both- disaster clips, and awsome renditions of defying gravity)
It's an incredibly strenuous show. Think of all the equipment they have to work with and all the vocal acrobatics they have to hit. Hell, I would break every bone in my body and snap my vocal cords within the first week if I didn't know what I was doing.
And FOR THE LAST TIME, you don't need a PM. If you don't go to the link on page 3 that I posted, and don't type in the three letters at the top of the page and then wait the time limit it gives you, you probably won't get a link to download the file. WINK WINK OBVIOUS WINK.
Wow, I'm like addicted to that audio!
She's so amazing, glad she's coming to broadway this summer, I'll be seeing her in August.
That defying gravity was absolutley FANTASTIC.

This is good in a way, getting a ton of American people to hear her amazingness. This is her at her best!
Could you PM me too? Haha Only joking! I downloaded it unlike some of these other slow people *cough* and I must say the version is quite fierce. In fact, it really is amazing, and I aplaud Kerry for it. Did anybody else notice that last note was held forever, though? Nobody else ever holds it that long. Does Kerry always do that or was this an extra part of her performance on this "special" night?
She doesn't always do it that way, I wish she did.
It was jaw-droppingly amazing!
that extra note was intense and amazing.
