When Lola sings "Hold Me in Your Heart" is it a flashback?
SPOLIER:
Earlier in the show Lola say something about her father dying, yet at the end of the song she says something along the lines of "thanks Dad". Does this mean it is a flashback? Or is her Dad not dead?, or is it just someone that reminders her of her Dad? This part has always confused me.
END SPOILER:
Also, Timothy Ware was gave a fantastic performance as Lola. I was quite disappointed to see that Wayne was out because he was one of the main reasons we went to see it again, but Timothy stepped up and gave a hilarious performance. Jeanna De Waal is also giving it her all as Lauren. She was 20x funnier than I remembered.
I think saying "thanks..." To someone that is dead is pretty common. It's a way to remember them.
But it is to a specific person in the wheelchair. Is that just an image in her mind?

Lola says that her father is dying, but I don't remember saying that he is dead explicitly. When we see him in the home, he's clearly not in good shape. I thought about this for a while because it confused me as well, so I take it that he is in the process of dying, but not yet dead

It was pretty clear that Lola was singing in the nursing home where her dad was. Not in flashback.

Lola says that his father refused to see him even when he came down with lung cancer, and that "fags got him in the end." He never actually says his father died, but it is implied that he is dying.
I agree with asmith, Tag, and wicked.
I've never seen her in KB but I've seen her in two other shows and I ADORE Jeanna De Waal.

I just remembered something when you reminded me that it was in fact lung cancer (I couldn't remember) - a 'fag' is a British slang term for a cigarette. (My apologies wicked if that is what you were implying, but I'm assuming that not everyone remembers the term)
I actually saw today's matinee of the show, and it is indeed never stated that Lola's dad is dead - she only says that he has lung cancer.
In addition to only saying that he has lung cancer (and not saying he is dead yet), in Act 2, Lola tells Charlie that she has been asked to sing at a nursing home, so we know for sure it isn't a flashback.
All of the above is true - also, early in its Chicago run, they actually had a few lines of dialogue from Lola to her father. I think they prob. thought it was overkill.
Oh I must have been confused because in Chicago it switched from quite a bit, to just "I love you daddy" to maybe more than that.
