I am going to NYC next week, i have to choose between the 2. which one should i see?

Impossible to tell you as we don't know you or what you like. 1/2 the folks here will tell you one show, the other 1/2 will choose the other. (And of course, there are the people that will tell you to choose a show you didn't even mention.

It'll be hard to get tickets for either, but it may be a tad easier for Kinky Boots.
I have not seen Matilda, and I have very little desire to, but I adored Kinky Boots and would recommend it in a heart beat. Like dramamama said, it depends on your taste.

Matilda on Broadway is, IMO, a truly unique and amazing experience. The magic will never translate as well on tour, so seeing it now would be awesome. Kinky Boots is just as great in it's own right, but will tour and be more or less the same exact production level. IMO, see Matilda! Worth every penny.

I am an avid theater goer, loving all types. the other shows i am seeing are pippin, newsies, and cinderella. matilda might be sold out so my decision might have been made for me

It might be hard to get tickets to either one so close to the date - as they are both doing amazing ticket sales right now. Good luck.
I am a HUGE fan of Kinky Boots.... and a sort of mediocre fan of Matilda but I know there are equal fans on both sides of the equation. IMO you don't want to miss the Broadway casts of either show..as they both have amazing performances.
So it's really a matter of personal choice (and ticket availability). For me, Matilda is a unique show and Kinky Boots is a unique experience.

With the shows you're already seeing, Kinky may be more of a breath of fresh air.

I just saw Matilda yesterday and it was FANTASTIC! Definitely a must-see!

I strongly preferred Matilda. I found Kinky Boots to be fun but far from revolutionary or anything close to a must-see, but I have friends who I respect very much who would tell you the opposite.
They're the two hot new musicals this spring on Broadway and in all honesty you probably can't make a bad decision. You may prefer one over the other but there's no way anyone on here will be able to predict that.

Having seen both, I STRONGLY recommend seeing Kinky Boots. Absolutely.

Having seen Kinky twice and Matilda twice (in London and NYC), I would see Kinky Boots again. I was bored to tears with Matilda. Kinky is fun and uplifting.

Having seen both, I would strongly recommend Matilda over Kinky.
As was mentioned, Kinky will be more true to the original while touring.

BUT for those saying to wait for Kinky to tour, you will most likely NOT get to see Billy Porter who is giving an inspiring performance 8 times a week as Lola. I know, I know I'll get "Bertie Carvel won't tour either..." But you get my point. Coming from someone who has seen both and enjoyed both, Go see something that will Raise You Up!
