I always go back and forth between liking and disliking KC. I'm going to list, in my view, her pros and cons and it would be great if you guys could comment/add.
Pros: Great character actor. Is very versatile (TV/BWAY). Funny.
Middle: Great singing voice, but she doesn't always use it right (like when she had to be very "bubbly" for Glinda)
Cons: Not the best general actor. Very squeaky voice.

PROS: Can play any role in any musical and will be the definitive actor to play said role.
CONS: The Cheno has no cons.

Posted: 10/28/07 at 2:06amI find I never have anything to complain about regarding her performances, with me it's more her off-stage presence. In her interviews, I always find a hint of cockiness which eventually makes her seem like a really big bitch. I understand that this is a common trend with a lot of performers, but some modesty is nice once in a while.

Pro: Great operatic voice.
Con: I think she's very overrated.

re: Kristen Chenoweth#8
Posted: 10/28/07 at 10:58amI think if she was a bigger physical presence she would be a bona fide modern day diva. She is so wasting her talent on tv. I know the money is much better, but what a waste of that voice. People would kill to have that voice!!!

Um, VERSITILE? Shall we look that word up?
A little goes a long way. She does have a certain smugness about her that just irks me, but I do think she has a lot of talent and personality.
re: Kristen Chenoweth#12
Posted: 10/28/07 at 7:59pmI don't think that she's really that versatile acting-wise. Maybe in singing (though I prefer her operatic style singing to her MT/belting style singing.)

Con: wears fur and calls herself an animal lover.
I had to mix things up, didn't I?
I'm surprised someone said cockiness. I've never had that reaction when I see or read interviews with her.
re: Kristen Chenoweth#14
Posted: 10/28/07 at 8:52pmShe is a great performer, but as someone said, sometimes the interviews can give an impression of bitchiness. I've never seen her off stage so I can't say that she is a bitch or not. But I still adore her.
re: Kristen Chenoweth#15
Posted: 10/28/07 at 10:53pmShe's lovely in person. My young daughter met her after one of her solo shows a few years back. No doubt, Kristin was exhausted after her performance, but she took time with my daughter and all the other fans waiting to meet her. I was impressed with her graciousness.

I know what you mean about the cockiness. I get the impression she just doesn't put up with any crap anymore.
Pros: Unique person, amazing musical abilities, has star quality, big appreciation for fans.
Cons: Tends to indicate too much that she's made a funny--she'll make a face or have some body language that almost demands that someone laugh.
She's also pretty accident prone. Not a con, but a cause for concern.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 1:22pmI actually don't find her cocky so much as ditzy. I don't know if it's just a "role" she plays in interviews, the eternal bubbly blonde, but she sometimes sounds like a complete space shot. And how does she manage to work into every single interview how tall she is and how much she weighs? It's rarely apropos.

I would like an example or two of Kristin acting cocky or bitchy in an interview--if even it was just the "air" or "hints" of the interview. Provide youtube links please.
I am not necessarily disagreeing, but I have never seen those qualities, and would like to see what some are talking about.
re: Kristen Chenoweth#20
Posted: 10/29/07 at 2:13pmWhile I like her, I don't think her resume warrants the level of stardom that some BWWers attribute to her.

Pro: FANTASTIC soprano! Everytime I hear "Glitter and Be Gay" emit from a blonde with that tiny body I can't get over it!! She's also a wonderful actress and versatile performer.
Con: Sometimes her speaking voice during interviews and such makes me want to stab my ears.

Pro: Sang "Hopelessly Devoted to You" on Pushing Daisies.
Con: Did not sing a duet with Raul when given the opportunity.

Why is that a con? Personally, I'd rather hear her sing with a beautifully trained and smooth, even singer. Not a shouter :x
