Haha I want to see the version where 2 iPads are ‘just’ strapped to Chenoweth... !!
The musical adaptation probably needs some Meryl Streep talent to work. Hmmmm... let’s just hope that they won’t tone down the grit that makes the movie eerily enjoyable.
IF this happens, she will be old enough to play the death that becomes a younger actress.

I have it on pretty good authority that this is going to be another Frankel/Korie show.

The list of non-produced musicals officially announced and starring Kristin Chenoweth is enormous."
To be fair, none of the shows currently attached to Kristin were ever formally announced. There have been workshops, and there was talk about them, but no producer ever said "This is going to happen" for any of them.
I believe both Soapdish and Tammy Faye are still in the works. She did a song from Soapdish at her Broadway concert last year. Dolly was never more than her saying she'd love to do it one day and people getting excited about it. Considering that show is in the middle of a successful revival right now, I'd say this may very well be in her future 10-15 years from now, when she will still be younger than Bette and Bernadette are now. Best Little Whorehouse was one workshop and nothing since. The problem with these stories is the clickbait of the broadway news sites, that are all overstating the facts to make it sound more exciting.
That being said, the fact remains that Kristin has been attached to many projects for years and nothing has happened (except OTTC after 4 or so years). I hope that changes soon and that we get to see her originate something again! And for someone to write a show for her.
I'm not holding my breath for this though until they have an actual show on the paper. Right now it's no more than an idea and really there shouldn't have been such a big announcement until they have at least a creative team and a concept/draft/workshop...

I love Kristin Chenoweth, and would love to have her on Broadway in a great show. I fear that this will not be it.
-- The movie was terrible; there was not a single laugh that was not based on a special effect. How many successful musicals have been based on a mediocre movie. (IMDB has it at a 6.5, which is very mediocre).
-- The main reason for any box office success was in fact the special effects. Unless they come up with some creative approach to approximating what people liked best about the movie, I don't see how they are not going to be burned
-- No creatives announced. Seems a little premature to me, given how flimsy the movie was.
I really hope I am wrong...if it ever comes to fruition, it will have to have blockbuster names for composer, lyricist, director, book, etc., and they will have to transcend lousy material.
