Just wondered if anyone knew about Kristina Fran Duvemala coming to Broadway. I know it is, but has it been announced when? I adore this musical, and am keen to hear it in English. Hopefully the translation from Swedish to English will be better than Tanz der Vampire's German - English disgrace!

Any other fans of Kristina Fran Duvemala here? I just love it myself! Need to spread the word!

its in a legal hiatus in Sweden with someone who claims to have been the English translator of which Benny & Bjorn fired and translated themselves.

They are working in New York City as we speak, but no set date yet

If you have the time and can brave the Minnesota winter, on March 18th Benny will be performing there along with Helen who is one of the original singers and is fantastic to hear

see http://www.americanswedishinst.org/baoconert.htm

and my website for more info

One of my favorite shows! My question is how will the length go over. The original is over four hours long. And while it is genius, that is quite a long time! I believe the original translator was the same one who helped with Les Mis, I am suprised they fired him! Last I heard it had gone very well.

If I lived in the USA I'd definitely come to Minnesota to see the show, but I'm from the UK unfortunately! Helen Sjoholm is one of my favourite singers of all time. Her voice is so pure and amazing. Love her!

I hope we hear that Kristina will open soon, I want to hear the score in English! And of course see the show :)

I've been listening to Kristina a ton later. Good to see there's been some talk of it on here. The score is nothing short of glorious. I hope they keep the full length show in tact. It's a shame Americans (I'm one too) can't sit still and be compelled for 4 hours. It's long, but the story is there, so it's doable.

I also want to make a correct as to something ThunderCat said about Dance of the Vampires. The original Austrian production was written first in English, so Steinman could compose the score (he doesn't speak German), then translated into German. In fact, some of the original reviews from Vienna noted this and said the show will likely work better in English. The problem with the Broadway show was the original show was rewritten. The disgrace had nothing to do with a translation.

So, the workshop finished today according to the excellent www.icethesite.com - and this fabulous musical is now in the hands of the investors and potential backers. Let us hope that some of the money that Benny and Björn have pocketed from Mamma Mia! goes towards the financing of their ultimate collaboration.

As a Swede living in London and without the funds to travel to New York if the musical opens there, I can only hope that it comes to the West End as well. Fingers crossed for a fabulous Broadway run!

Is there a recording of Kristina?
If so, where is it available?
