I was familiar with Mulaney and Kroll before tonight, but not their Oh, Hello characters. Honestly, it was a weird piece and a tad long, but I would be lying if I said there wasn't one belly laugh laughter another throughout.
You could really hear their standup voices shining through, and maybe that's why the jokes were more memorable than the plot, but I liked that they poked fun at many cliches of bad playwriting and the jokes and references were very New Yorky.
Katie Couric was our guest star tonight and that segment was terrific. I want to sneak into the Lyceum every night just to see that diner scene.
I strongly recommend Oh, Hello with the caveat being if you can't stand Kroll and/or Mulaney's humor you'll be in for a long night, but I basically loved it.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
I was also there tonight and pretty much echo everything Whizzer said. A weird little play, but definitely more laughs than I've had at the theatre in a while. Katie Couric's portion was a riot and I, too, would love to be able to see some of their future guests.
For those wondering about rush, I arrived at around 9:20 this morning and was fifth in line. About another five people arrived before the box office opened at 10. I got balcony A 106, which was marked as partial view but ended up being perfectly fine!
My favorite thing about their performances was the way they distorted/dropped random vowels from certain words creating a unique cadence to their speech patterns. For example, they drop the "oa" in Broadway to pronounce Brdway. They did it so effortlessly and often at surprising times make you stop and think, "what did they just say? Oh!" (delayed laugh).

My son loves Mulaney, and wants to go....thanks to the comments, I might just let him.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Saw the show in Boston in January with friends and didn't know anything about it (other than seeing Kroll on "The League" and Mullaney in "SNL" segments) and I absolutely loved it. Agree that the plot was unmemorable, but they were outstanding. Have tickets for December 3rd and cannot wait.
Knowing John and Nick's stuff as I do, the plot isn't as important as the experience the audience gets from their time being there. It's a happening, after all. So happy for this positive buzz! Opens in 2 weeks!
I know some of this is improved and it's in previews so running time may vary, but does anyone know if it's still running about an hour and 50 minutes?
The past 2 nights the running time has been 1 hour 48 minutes . The past 2 guests where Michael Riedel and last night was Griffin Dunne . They were both very funny interacting with JM and NK . The show is a riot .
