I can live with $67.50, but I'll just wait until the box office opens in three weeks.
Thanks. I just bought my ticket for Wednesday, April 28th - matinee. 8th row Orchestra for $55.........fantastic price.
looks like I'll have to snag some tickets for a Wed. matinee!!! $55!!!!!
ok, discount for Promises, Promises - check
discount for La Cage.. - check
discount for American Idiot - soon??
How low does the mez hang in the Longacre? I haven't been in there since Virgnia Woolf and memory is not my friend at the moment.
Would you suggest front row center mez or side 10 rows back in the orchestra?
This is a great discount. But I doubt there will be a discount for AMERICAN IDIOT.

I mentioned this previously in another thread, but I believe we will soon see a single ticket discount for AI in the $70-$90 range.
I won't be buying a ticket for La Cage. I am troubled that the producers saw it fit to cast the leading role in a historic gay musical with Republican Kelsey Grammer. I find it insensitive (to say the least) to cast someone who actively supports a political party that goes to lengths to withhold equal rights from LGBT community and to reverse the type of social vision for which this play is universally known.
I urge you to reconsider purchasing, too, as Grammer's salary comes from our community and then pours into the Republican coffers. It's just plain insulting I tell you!
Not every Republican is against gay rights. Some are even gay. I commend Grammer for taking on this role when it goes against many of the leaders of his party.
It's not like they cast Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, or Tom Crusie as Georges. Has Grammar ever said anything negative about gays that would warrant this republican = homophobe rant?
Hell, he shared a sitcom with David Hyde Pierce for years. Supposedly, they're still friends now.
Nick2, how is it insulting? Have you ever met Kelsey Grammer? Do you know where he stands on Gay Marriage, Health Care, Women's Right, the economy?
What does that have to do with him doing what he does......he's an actor.
I would agree with Nick if Grammer had come out against gay rights, but I do not believe that is the case (if it is, please share it here).
There are many republicans (especially those in the arts) who are socially liberal, and vote and donate accordingly. Not speaking for Grammer here just in general.
first of all, my message wasn't a rant. also notice, i didn't attack Grammer or republicans. (I suspect he's socially liberal, but I don't know.) I simply think it's a strange decision to cast a well-known straight Republican in what is arguably an historically relevant role in terms of representations of gay relationships in the commercial theater.
Personally, I'd rather see a gay actor in the role. (Is there a shortage of gay actors in the musical theater world?!) Grammer has the right to play the role (tho, please don't try to convince me he's courageous for doing so). Producers have the right to cast as they see fit. And I have the right to NOT attend.
Now you're backpedaling Nick. You're saying you don't want Grammar, a republican, in the role. Now you don't want a straight Republican? So a gay Republican would be okay? What about a straight Democrat?
Or a bisexual Libertarian?
Grammar was chosen for his name. We'll see if it works or not. I have a feeling the raves the show is bound to get coupled with his name will sell the show. The original Georges wasn't gay.
Who is a name gay actor that age who would realistically take the role? Ian McKellen is the only age appropriate, openly gay actor I can think of but he'd never take the role in a million years.
Grammar is an actor. His job is to portray someone other than himself. He's never murdered anyone? Should he not have played MacBeth for that reason? He's never hosted a radio show, been a psychiatrist, or lived in Seattle. Should he have been banned from playing Frasier?
By your theory all straight roles should be played by straight men. In that case we ought to fire a considerable percent of the actors on Broadway.
You are equating the generalization of all Republicans and their history of homophobia with Grammar who has never given any indication he's homophobic. Look I'm about as liberal as they come but if we expect acceptance from others we should extend the same courtesy (especially when the Republican has never said or done anything to indicate he's the "typical Republican".
Mildred, I couldn't have said it better myself. BRAVO!
