The Glendale Centre Theatre is doing Man of La Mancha and another comedy around that time I think. It's a small theatre and if you are looking for bigger shows then this probably wouldn't be the first choice but they do some amazing shows there and the cast of MolM was very impressive.

THE BOOK OF LIZ will be the hottest ticket in LA in May! Written by Amy and David Sedaris and starring Ann Magnuson! It is produced by The Blank Theatre Company (featured in the current headline interview on Broadwayworld with Greg Jbara (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). Greg has done all kinds of work with The Blank. Just read the interview. Good luck getting tickets!
Yes, yours truly eslgr8 has made up a list of MUSICALS which will be in L.A. for the rest of the coming year. You can click on it where it says Musicals Coming to the Los Angeles area in 2005
Probably the most complete site for info on plays (not just musicals but straight plays too) in L.A. is
http://www.theatermania.com/LA/
Why pay full price?
Half price tickets to many if not most of "the good stuff" are available at:
www.goldstarevents.com
and
The site listed below:
I see LOTS of plays here, so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Play Without Words! Awesome production at the Ahmanson. i'm not sure when you're going, but I think its closing in about 3 or 4 weeks.
Play Without Words should be at the Ahmanson for a good two months. It's opening tonight officially.

Admittedly off the topic, but since we're talking about musicals in LA--what happened to the production of Chess that was supposed to hit the Kodak later this year?
If I remember correctly, a couple of things that were listed on the Kodak's season flyer from six or so months ago were canceled or changed. Were they just making things up at that point? :)

I highly recommend anything at South Coast Repertory. The first weekend in May is their annual Pacific Playwright's Festival - which this year is featuring a world-premier production of Richard Greenberg's latest play, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, directed by Mark Rucker.

If Chess was at one time scheduled as coming to the Kodak, it is not now.

Play Without Words is beyond cool! Saw it last Saturday and am still getting visitations! If you're there in June, check out the Young Playwright's Festival at the Blank! All teen writers - with all pro actors and directors. Such a treat.

Though I haven't yet seen it, I understand that Questa is quite good. It stars Wendy Malick, Dan Lauria, and Dorian Harewood and is about "the aftermath of a gay bashing that ends in murder, and how its impact on seven people in Manhattan leads to their individual paths to redemption". It's at the Courth Theatre in West Hollywood through mid-May.
Play Without Words at the Ahmanson is just terrific and runs through mid-May (I think).
As someone else mentioned Ann Magnusen in the Sedaris' The Book of Liz at (the appropriately named if you're a fan of Amy's, Blank Theatre) should be a hoot. I think it runs through early June.
I have heard Questa is a bad play with good actors.
I think Play without Words and The Book of Liz would be safe bets...If you are ready to venture to Orange County, Lucinda Coxon's Vesuvius (world premiere) will be playing - her style is very emotionally and intellectually challenging- not light fare but very rewarding.

BBaby6 - did you see the reading of Vesuvius at last year's SCR playwright festival? It caught my eye, and am looking forward to seeing it put on its feet this year.
Sidenote - the Argyros Theatre that it will play in is one of the best new small theatres I've ever seen. Beautifully crafted and impeccable for the audience experience.
Thanks for all your suggestions! Especially Book of Liz - I'm a huge fan of Amy & David Sedaris.
