LMM and the Clinton campaign are giving us a chance to win 2 tickets to see Hamilton. Just the description alone is witty enough that you keep reading it. This came today in a new email...
Steven,
What time is it? SHOWTIME!
Hillary is taking a lucky supporter to see Hamilton on Broadway, and you should definitely not throw away your shot to win --
Trust me, you’ll tell the story of this night for the rest of your life -- history is happening, and you have a chance to meet the woman who could be our next president in the greatest city in the world.
I don’t see how anyone could say no to this -- but don’t wait for it, because the contest closes Sunday at midnight. So I’m going to ask you one last time: Will you add your name for a chance to be in the room where it happens?
Is there a link or something? How does this work? I'm guessing you have to make a donation or something to win "your shot"...
There is a link but I was trying to be PC in this thread, but since you've asked, it's a fund raising performance on July 12th.
But they are giving away 2 tickets, hotel, and airfare...you don't need to contribute but you can, even $1 or $3 or $5...Good luck

Good for them! And I bet there will be takers!!
So does that mean EVERY person performing and backstage is voting for Hillary, or they don't have a choice?
So this is similar to when Hamilton added a performance back in the fall to fundraise for Obama/the Democratic party.

Yeah it seems like the same type of idea
I'm not sure on equity rules, but they cannot be forced to donate their time/performance.
The Hillary Clinton Fund bought out the performance, which is a 9th added performance, so presumedly the fund is paying those extra expenses for the cast/crew.

This news item serves to reaffirm the truth of that lyric in Fade Out-Fade In (as if it needs reaffirmation): "There's always one step further down you can go."
Something tells me we will see further reaffirmation of the same in this opus's news items of tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and every day after that.

I hate when entertainment gets political and tries to sway people one way or the other.

Hamilton has always been political though.

Because it's about a story...not trying to endorse or donate to a particular candidate/party... you missed the point.

No I understand your point, but it still presents certain political views in positive and negative lights. I'm not just talking about the story either, Obama has already held a DNC fundraiser there and Leslie made an appearance in costume (alongside Hillary) at an event for the Democratic party, so it's obvious which side the show is on already. I don't necessarily see this as the show trying to convince anyone anyway.

Considering the only other candidate with a shot at winning is DONALD TRUMP, I do not blame them at all for this. I'm sure the cast and crew all agreed to do this, and were not forced into it.

The show has hosted the President multiple times and raised money for the DNC before. This isn't a new thing. And this fundraiser is literally just a creative way for rich people to donate to the Hillary campaign. It really isn't trying to convince anyone to vote for her like aaaaaa15 lol.

Would be very entertaining to see Trump to try to do a Broadway fundraiser- what show?
If I were an actor In the show I would call out during that performance. How uncomfortable must they feel if they're not voting for Hillary?
Why? If your employer held a fundraiser at your job for a politician you weren't voting for, you'd still do your job, wouldn't you?

I really can't imagine a cast full of people of color wont be voting for Hillary over Trump come November.

The majority of people I know (in the arts and in other careers) hate both major candidates and are exploring 3rd party candidates.
In response to Jordan....let's say I'm a Hamilton cast member and I don't agree with whom my producers are supporting politically. There's nothing wrong with calling out one day if I feel my principles are being compromised by being in that performance.
