OK, who among you has actually stood up when Joanne asked you to?

I was thinking about it last night and wondered if anyone had ever actually been moved to stand by a performance of this song.

Thoughts?

BEST THREAD IDEA EVER.

I have seen company twice. I recently saw the current revival and I also saw a community production. I think it's safe to say that audience members are usually too embarrassed and only stand up in the movie CAMP :).

I know!! I was really wondering if I would ever be so frightened that I would just stand up to make her stop or if any performer would go that far as to not stop singing until the audience was on its feet.

I don't know...

If it didn't happen with Strich it won't happen with Walsh.

I don't know if its really a "stand" moment, unless you have seen and comprehended the material before. It's more a "sit in your seat and be totally amazing, shocked and have goosebumps all over you" moment. But.....it would be pretty sweet if it actually happened.

I would love to see this happen. Hypothetically.

Apparently, there was a show last week at which someone in the audience replied to Jenny when she asked if she was high with a "yes you are!"

I would just be amazed to see a woman sing "Rise!" and build until an entire house was standing. If I remember correctly, it's just a vamp in the score.

God, it would be a sight.

I agree though, munk, I don't know who could do it besides Stritch.

Come on, this NEVER happened with Stritch?? I would imagine something like this happen during her last performance on Broadway or on the Westend. It would've been great.

And didn't she do it at the "Leading Ladies" concert?

Can you imagine Carnegie Hall nervously standing because Elaine Stritch ordered them to?

On closing night of our production of Company, our Joanne got the audience to rise. I don't know about on the professional level, though.

I never did, but I didn't "Moo" with Maureen either. I'm not an audience participation kind of guy.

Hmmm... it's an interesting thought. I kind of want to do it now and see if I can get others to.
