Maybe Shug in the Color Purple? She could be good, at least vocally, in that.

Since she can't do that gig on August 6th due to whatever Broadway commitment she made, it can't be Shug. Elisabeth isn't leaving in the near future, at least not to my knowledge.
Judging by what I've heard of her voice, I think she fits Nettie alot better than Shug.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I could definetly see her playing Shug.

Hmm. You would think if she was going to start rehearsals or even start her run in a show around August 5th, we would have already heard the news. I guess in a few days we will. Maybe she will be Velma Kelly to Usher's Billy?? When does Brenda leave? I could also see her playing Nala in The Lion King. Maybe they will start stunt casting that show.

Don't be shocked if she does a play because right now or she just got done doing "Issues:We All Got Em" which is a play.

Referring to Latoya London as stunt casting for TLK is like saying Josh Strickland is stunt casted in Tarzan.

"Constantine Maroulis, Nikko Smith, Anthony Fedorov and Kevin Covais"
oh, oh, oh...hurry, hurry, hurry...tell me where to go to buy tickets.

Incidentally, Latoya is far too young to play Shug.

She really does have a fabulous voice. If she's a name, at least it's a worthy one, in my opinion.

I agree, she does have a great set of pipes on her.

I could see her as Nettie, but that show doesn't really need to do "stunt" casting just yet, nor does Lion King. Her doing Chicago with Usher would make sense, since Usher is so young.
"Issues:We All Got Em" ---> that sounds horrible.

Josh Strickland never even made it to the top 24 of his season. There are like barely any records of him even being on American Idol. Also, he did the first season of the show when there weren't even that many viewers in the beginning. So by the time the viewership picked up, he was long gone from the competition.
Latoya London made it to the top 4 in her season. She was in the third season of the show when there were plenty of viewers. She was one of the favorites to win the competition and she also has a solo CD out now.
If you asked someone who watches American Idol often, and ask them who Latoya London is, they probably can tell you. If you ask them who Josh Strickland is, you'll probably get a blank stare.

It definitely won't be CHICAGO.
I doubt she could handle Velma's dancing.
Plus Velma is barely ever stunt casted.

Ooohh! Now, this sounds appealing to me! :)

I doubt she'd go into Lion King. They sell out without "stars."
This will be interesting to see...

Maybe they're going to do the Dreamgirls revival with the three Idol girls: London (Deena), Hudson (Effie), Fantasia (Lorrell). Oh dreams...
I'd love to see her in The Color Purple. Have we thought about RENT? Maybe Joanne? She could also be going in as a standby or something. It's not like it's beneath her.

Well she's done Broadway before. She did a stint in Bombay Dreams.

That was Tamyra Gray from Season 1 who did Bombay Dreams.

What I find funny about that article is that they got Nikko to take her place. That must be that guy's place in life...to fill in for other people. Remember he did that Mario Vasquez on AI 4.

i hope she comes to Broadway! she was my favorite person thats every been on AMERICAN IDOL.
she wouldve made a good AIDA, but i think Nala in TLK could be good...or Joanne in RENT
anything would be good for me! :)

She certainly can sing, its the dancing and acting that's in doubt.
