Is Kern a better singer than Lynch?
Yes.

Interesting...
I wonder if they'll put Tina's head on Laura's body outside the theatre. She'll look like a bobble head! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Did you finish sewing her new wedding dress, Phanty?
Ms. Lyon on line 1.
Maybe the understudy for Julia -- her name escapes me will get to perform the role once if Tina is out.

I could almost guarantee you that Tina will not be out.
I wish Tina all the best. She is doing a good job filling in for Laura. I hope Laura returns to health and her role quickly.
tina might not be out, but they could schedule a show for christina s. (the u/s) to go on.
Christina Sivrich (sideburns girl/fake Cyndi Lauper) is the second cover for Julia. So if Tina IS ever out at some point in the next 4-6 weeks, she'll be on as Julia. :) And I almost hope I do get to see Christina as Julia at some point.. *crosses fingers*

are they going to change the playbills for Tina?- I mean, it seems like a long time to just have her name listed on the "at this performance" board...
but anyway, poor Laura, hope she feels better!
One would imagine they'd change the playbills - I remember when Joanna Gleason took off from DRS for.. two weeks or whatever they changed the playbills so that Rachel De Benedet was just listed as Muriel.
Tina is amongs the leads in the playbill. The could keep the same.

I'm sure they will change it to list her as Julia and remove Laura from the playbill. They do this when someone in the cast takes a leave for a couple weeks, so they should definately when its 4-6 weeks.
Or longer.
Im sure they could care less about the understudy board, but if Tina is listed as the lead, there are no refunds. And that is what the producers care about, the $$$. So Im sure she will be listed.
Are any of them above the title? I would think there would never be refunds for this show...
None of them are above the title, and they don't offer refunds, so that's a moot point.
That being said, I imagine they WILL change it because a lot of shows do that when people take extended leaves. It looks better than having an understudy board up every night.
I imagine they will change it. They changed the playbills when Ashley Amber Haase left for a few weeks as well.
Best wishes to Laura; she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met.
It will be changed.
If they change it, it would just to be so that they wouldn't have to have the understudy board up. Neither of them are above the title, so no refunds will be given because Laura is out. They could change it, but it's a little inconvenient for this month because they already have the August Playbills with Laura Benanti's name in them. They would have to get another one for the rest of August with Tina, and then get new ones in September. What they might do until September is put a slip in the existing playbill and just say like Tina Maddigan (Julia) and give her bio, like they did when Taye was covering for Norbert and Eden for Idina.

Kevin Kern is not just some fill-in. I saw him at the Sunday performance and I was blown away by his talent. He had a different take on the role but I loved it to pieces. His Casualty of Love was amazing and I enjoyed a lot more then Stephen's.
Tina was also on and I liked her but I enjoy Laura better. Again, they both have different takes but I liked Tina vocally and she did a good job but I refer Laura and I hope she gets well and comes back soon.

I think it is ridiculous that Benanti keeps getting hired. If there was one situation where she had to miss shows, fine. But this has become a recurring pattern. Obviously there is something that she does not do in her daily routine to take care of herself. I don't know the girl, but she needs to sort out her life outside those theatre doors so it doesn't affect her in the theater. Or else, find something else to do. I am in awe of how many performances she has missed over the years in all her different productions for all her various reasons. The first time, I felt bad for her. The second time, I was a little more wary. Now, I have no sympathy. Whoever understudies her in these shows must cream their pants knowing that they will have ample opportunity to go on. Probably the best gig on Broadway. Rant over.
I Agree
many people were upset when the question first went up
"How long will Benanti last?"
