I completely agree with JeaniusIsMe (sorry if I butchered your name - I took a ten of Ambien over three hours ago) I love her on Gilmore Girls but can she sing? If she can...I'm all for it. Although personally, I have seen (and can admittedly say I have been in) so many bad performances of Guys and Dolls that it has killed the show for me and probably won't go see it either way unless they really have the cast to pull it off. I originally felt the same way about South Pacific, but then a friend of mine gave me a pair of free tickets and I went to see it (also overdone musical) and it was outstanding. So ultimately, I depends on the production concept, direction, design, and of course the entire ensembles' performance as a whole, that will determine whether or not it is a good show.
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere
"She's yet to step on stage and someone here is already saying she'll be "BRILLIANT."
Give her a chance to actually perform before you go in with a fantasy about how her performance will be the best thing since sliced bread."
People are saying she could be brilliant because she already has proved herself to many that she is a great, funny, and successful actress. Will she definitely be "brilliant" in Guys & Dolls? Who knows, but she is amazing and I love her on Gilmore Girls.
Geez, excuse people for praising her past performance and being excited about casting.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

WBAF, when you get news that your favorite performer from your favorite TV show that you've spent 8 years watching and loving and laughing with and crying with is coming to Broadway--- you might just be elated enough to cry.
GILMORE GIRLS is something that meant a lot to me on a personal level. I'm a mama's boy, okay? And my mom and I went through a rough place and GILMORE GIRLS was something we could still sit together and watch and help us get to talking again. So it's important to me.
And I'm ecstatic that one of my favorite actresses is coming to Broadway. So shoot me.

My point exactly.
It's perfectly fine to say she was "brilliant" in any past role you've seen her do (like Lorelai Gilmore,) but to start mushing and gushing about how she'll be "BRILLIANT" as Adelaide when she's yet to step on stage is setting up an unrealistic expectation.
Let the woman work.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I am so excited about this. I heart Lauren Graham.

People were "mushing and gushing" at how she is a wonderful actress as a prediction for how well she may do onstage. That said, I think she will do successfully. I don't think anyone here is setting up any unrealistic expectations.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Would prefer Ambrose as Adelaide, but she will make a wonderful Sarah if this is true. And Ambrose is a trained singer, by the way, not to mention a fantastic actress. If she is indeed on, then I can get excited about the show again.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Well, I'm a little nervous about Norm Lewis. Lord knows he can sing the songs for Sky, but when given the chance to have a leading role on Broadway (Javert), I thought he gave an extremely wooden performance. And It's pretty easy for Sky to take a turn for the boring side.
This is phenomenal. Me and my family are big fans of Gilmore Girls and she is just phenomenal as Lorelai Gilmore. She really was ignored for fantastic work. Her fast paced delivery of hilarious lines and her phenomenal dramatic scenes. She is one of the best actresses out there. I can't wait to see her as Adelaide because she has the talent of being hilarious and having an audience fall in love with her. She seems to have musical theatre background so that is great but I am telling you if she can portray Adelaide as seemlessly and brilliantly as she did for Lorelai and she can sing well she could be a major tony contender.
