I'm Filipino as well, so ditto to listening to all her Filipino recordings, haha. She's great!

that's so cool, steven! ano ang balita?
tehe. "bakit labis kitang mahal" is one of my guilty pleasures. that, and "nandito ako!"
yay!! i'm not the only filipino on this site. i love Lea Salonga singing "For Good." She sounds so amazing. I can't quite picture in my head her as Elphaba, though. I'd give anything to see that, though.
Oh, by the way, I love "Nandido Ako" too. Hehehehe
Haha, ohk, I don't know Tagalog. *hides face in shame*
But if I hear the song, I'd probably recognize it. Haha.
I'm sure I've heard "Nandito Ako" and I'm sure I love it.
Wow, I'm a terrible Filipino/Lea fan. Heh.

She already recorded that in one of her solo concerts.

I love "In Whatever Time We Have."
She did play the Witch in Into the Woods at one point. Also many other short people have played Elphaba before, so I could definately see her playing this part. :) She's still got a fantastic voice.

I was hoping someone would say something about "In Whatever Time We Have"! That sounds fabulous (though it didn't take much because I fell in love with Jose Llana's voice in Flower Drum Song. "Like A God"? *blush*)...
But back to the subject of the thread...I found that version interesting, and it certainly gives a person a fresh way to think of the song...As to whether Lea Salonga would work as Elphaba, I think it'd be interesting to see her take on the character, both vocally and acting-wise.
yeah, but there's not much crazy belting in For Good.
I love Lea, but can she belt the high notes?
I think she'd be wonderful in Oklahoma and The Sound of Music also.
