Legally Blonde Broadway Revival?

I could see it happening, maybe in a couple of years. If the production opened at a much smaller venue (unlike the Palace) then I could see it supporting itself for a much longer run.
If they found ways to make the show work with out all of the tech that they used, it would cost a hell of a lot less.
Thoughts. Comments?

Posted: 5/26/10 at 1:19amIt hasn't even been closed 2 years yet, the original production is still touring and appearing in London. It will be at least 5 or 10 years before it's appropriate to begin thinking about possibly doing some sort of NY revival.

Posted: 5/26/10 at 1:20amIt's doing well on tour, it's doing well in London - it has a life. Be happy with that.

It really isn't doing that well on tour. When I saw the tour in November 2009, the theater was 60% full, on opening night. No wonder it's going non equity

Posted: 5/26/10 at 1:37amLet's compromise. It WAS doing well on tour.

Actually the tour is doing very well. As of July 2009 the production re-couped its initial investment.
And the tour will run over a year past that date...
According to the official Legally Blonde Tour blog (http://legallyblondetour.blogspot.com/)
"...as of Dayton our tour recouped all of its initial investment. That's right, we are now a money making machine!"

Posted: 5/26/10 at 2:50amIt was just on Broadway and I hope it never comes back. It was horrid.

I think the tour is going Non-Equity soon...Dave Clemmons Casting has a notice up looking for all of the roles, rehearsals start August 16.

Posted: 5/26/10 at 6:44amI made a big mistake going to this show at the Palace. I thought it was going to be as entertaining as the movie. Instead what I saw was a mess. If ever a show needed to remain hidden from view, this is the one. A revival? Hah!

Posted: 5/26/10 at 10:41amI actually enjoyed this show more than I thought I would and on subsequent viewings, I liked it even better. I think it's good old-fashioned musical comedy that works quite well and the London production was even better than Broadway. I think the show will have a long and healthy post-Broadway life and I wouldn't be surprised to see it revived one day Probably not in the next 10 years, but I do believe its popularity will gain more momentum over time.

The problem seemed to be that the critics pretty much like it in NY and audiences liked it (except for the members of Broadway World which is just a tad predicatable to any show that just sets out to be fun) but it was in thew wrong venue.
London has proved with it's rave reviews that its a good little show, little been the word here since its scaled down and it nice size theatre

This show will be all over the college and summer theatre boards once the rights are released, not to mention the endless community theatre productions that will pop up.
As for a potential revival, it didn't fail nearly hard enough the first time around to make it a completely unattractive property to some producer some years down the line.

Posted: 5/26/10 at 12:42pmI don't foresee a revival of this show anytime in the near future. It had its life on Broadway and now it is touring. This will definitely live on in college and community theater productions.

Troika is taking over the tour. I'm not sure why rehearsals start so early, because Troika has it listed as beginning in 2011.
