According to a recent casting statement for the national tour, the production will be set to launch the week of September 22, 2008.
Yup, I saw that too. It looks to be an equity tour.

Can you imagine a non-equity tour of Legally Blonde??
Elle Woods wears nothing but the finest clothes from Walmart!

is it a full production contract or a tiered tour?

where is it all going?
This show will do more business on tour than it does on Broadway. Mostly due to the fact that those who saw the MTV broadcast (and became crazy fans of the show) can't fly to NYC to see it on Broadway.
I'm sure the marketing of the tour will be extensive with MTV spots, etc.

No, it's not really old news; it's actually a new development. That Playbill article (which is from only a few days ago) just says a tour will start in the fall. broadwaybelter posted a more specific time period.
I probably seem stupid for asking this, but what is a tiered tour?

not stupid, i had no idea either
check the website sum1 posted near the top
sum1? I don't see that. I was wondering also what a two tierd tour was. I was thinking that it may be 2 companies instead of one doing the tour.
sum1 = someone i think.
Anybody able to help with our tiered tour question?
It's a type of Actor's Equity Contract. Instead of going out "full Production Contract" which is one of the highest paid contracts, they use a tierd system based on weeks, size of houses played and several other consessions given to the producers in order for them to save money. The actor's and stage managers get paid less salary & per diem while the producers say it's the only way they can do an Equity tour.
Thank you, SakeDad!
OK, so I know Wikipedia is not the most accurate source, but I have found them to be right most of the time.
According to Wikipedia, the national tour cast is...
Becky Gulsvig as Elle Woods
D.B. Bonds as Emmett Forrest
Natalie Joy Johnson as Paulette
Burke Moses as Professor Callahan
Jason Gillman as Warner Huntington III
Tracy Jai Edwards as Vivienne Kensington
Ven Daniel as Kyle the UPS Guy
Coleen Sexton as Brooke Wyndham
Katie Adams as Enid
Cortney Wolfson as Serena
Lauren Zakrin as Margot
Brandi Chavonne Massey as Pilar
Also according to Wikipedia, Leslie Kritzer returns to the role of Serena on August 6th.
hopefully that cast list is true for the tour and leslie is reprising her role as serena. but it would be nice if leslie goes on tour as serena.
i am def going to save my money and see legally blonde when it comes to long island.
Tours don't usually come to Long Island, because of the close proximity to New York City. The closest tour date you'll probably see is somewhere in Conneticut.
Tours don't usually hit most of the tri-state area due to the proximity to the city - I think the tour that came the closest recently may have been The Wedding Singer in New Jersey because really - you can't be the tour of TWS and NOT hit NJ.

i just got my tickets for Baltimore i really hope that is the cast
fingers crossed :)
Katie Adams as Enid is interesting...Katie is currently the Glinda standby in Wicked. She certainly doesn't bear any resemblance to Natalie physically, so she'd be taking Enid in a different direction. Also, I would have had typed her as an Elle/Margot, just based on the fact she played Glinda. I wonder if she (along with Lauren) will cover the role of Elle.
