There's no staircase? Or there's no house and the staircase and benches are smaller?
I don't understand how the PMS girls are not in the Positive dance sequence. They sing in it and do that small "rap" in the middle, and then do the "Shake, shake..." stuff...so what the heck are they doing during the dance sequence if they aren't in it?

i am really sorry if i am confusing people. The pms girls ARE present for "positive" up until the part where they say "now its time to shake your junk...shake,shake ect.... or something along those lines. while elle is shaking they run off stage. they do the rap.
im really not sure what they are doing offstage.

Why in the world aren't they in So Much Better? That makes no sense at all
As far as the sets go:
The light up proscenium is still present for the tour, and it also moves at times to frame the scenes. I don't know if it does that on Broadway but I couldn't really tell in the MTV broadcast.
The set for the first part of "Omigod You Guys" is a large pink door on stage level with a small table located stage left, and four large Greek columns in the background. The "Congratulations, Elle!" banner is flown in. The store set is basically the same as the one on B'way, except that the door that Elle makes her entrance through the pink doorway, which is also flown in.
For "Serious", the set was the almost identical to the Broadwawy set.
"What You Want" was staged using Elle's door, but the rest of the sets for the rest of the number were the same identical to the B'way sets.
For "Harvard Variations" the multiple windows that are hung, aren't present on the tour. Everything else is there, including the vine covered gate.
The set for Callahan's classroom is a little smaller. The overhead window panes aren't there, and the benches are a little smaller.
Elle's room is also a little bit smaller than the one in New York, and is missing the curtain where she does her costume change. She now just walks around the whole unit to do her change.
The set for the Hair Affair is pretty much the same.
Dewey's trailer is smaller, and you don't see the entire thing like you do on Broadway. Only the end with the door is on stage.
For the "So Much Better" scene, they used a drop, but the platform that the Delta Nus stand on is still present.
The set for "Whipped Into Shape" is the same, as is the set pieces for the jail scene that follows.
The "Take It Like A Man" sets are identical to the ones on Broadway.
The set for the courtroom is a smaller. The benches are smaller (I'm guessing they use the same benches from the classroom scene) and the judge's bench is also smaller. The bathroom set is identical to Broadway, as is the set for the finale.
I hope I covered everything good enough! I mentioned in my review that I didn't miss the lack of automation at all, and I think the cast managed just fine moving all those set pieces around themselves.

So how does Warner make his entrance since the staircase isn't there. It wouldn't make much since for him to enter through Elle's door. Also how do they do the table in Whipped Into Shape? I'm assuming it doesn't come up from the ground?
That's so strange. I would have opted for the staircase in favor of the "Serious" set and the elaborate classroom and "Take it Like a Man" sets. I can't imagine the show without the staircase. It's such a central piece. And the windows could have at least been projected or something. So lame.
Warner makes his entrance from the wings and then walks to the edge of the stage where he strikes his pose. During Whipped Into Shape, the table is rolled offstage.
I assuming since the PMS girls leave during positive and show up again behind the mirror, they move that set piece into place.
Thank you James885 for actually giving us detail on the set changes. Thanks for clearing up a lot of confusion.
IDK why Margot Serena and Pilar wouldnt be in the end of positive if your statement is correct. The only reason I can think of, since I haven't seen the show is that they run offstage in order to get a piece of scenery and move it onstage.
i saw it yesterday, i didnt notice if they were in positive or not but they are def. in SMB, i was watching them from "see who walks the walk..." to the end of the song

^ really, i looked for them when i was there in SMB bc i heard someone say they did not see them.....i did not see them either. i dont know.
I think the lack of automation will work well because it will make the audience focus more on the cast and less on the spectacles.
