I have to decide between seeing these two shows...
Legally Blonde or Company
thanks!

They couldn't be more opposite.
It completely depends on the kind of show you're looking to see.
Do you want a pink fizzy wine cooler? Or a glass of fine champagne?

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:15pmIf you haven't seen COMPANY, you should. But if you are having trouble distinguishing between these shows even on a superficial level, I'm not sure what to tell you. It's like deciding between TOSCA and BAMBI.

Whoa, polar opposites.
What Foa said, heh. What do you like?

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:15pmwell, I've seen company before, and adore it....so hmmmm. But I also want to see Legally Blonde since it's a new show, but I have no idea how Legally Blonde is supposed to be.

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:17pmIf you like the show, give this production a shot. A lot of the reports about Legally Blonde have been surprisingly good, but I still hesitate to think it won't be kind of hit-or-miss. What Doyle's direction does for the material is obviously debatable, but at bottom, the material is still damned good, and at least you have that guarantee.

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:17pmLegally Blonde got mostly positive reviews, if you just want to see something fun and silly, and good entertainment in the same vein as Hairspray, go see that. If you want to see something good, that is pretty much pure Sondheim perfection, go see Company.

Well, LB's out of town reviews were very positive, if that helps.
And if you've already seen COMPANY, perhaps it's time for something else. Not that COMPANY can't be enjoyed several times.
But LB is big and flashy with huge sets and lots of dancing. A completely different experience.
Maybe it's time to try something else?

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:19pmLegally Blonde. A couple of your shows are kind of depressing (but still good), so you need another fun one.

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:44pmYeah with that list, you need to see something fun to lighten the load a little bit.

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:48pmHaving seen both and love both its a tricky one but i would have to say Legally Blonde is the one to watch

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:49pmCompany? How can you say no to Sondheim?

Legally Blonde will probably be around for a while. Who knows how much longer this revival of Company will last.
I say go for Company.

I have to agree - the shows couldn't be more opposite, but they're also two of the most positive theater experiences I've had in the past year.
Try to sell your Pirate Queen tickets and see both, since it appears you don't want to see it. :)

Posted: 3/25/07 at 5:24pmWow, those shows couldn't be more different. I'd definitely choose COMPANY, it is my second favorite show after all, and I think it's utterly brilliant. I haven't heard any of the music from Legally Blonde yet, so I can't give an informed opinion on that, but you should definitely see COMPANY at some point!

Posted: 3/25/07 at 5:29pmI haven't seen Legally Blonda, so perhaps I'm not qualified to chime in, but this production of Company is simply the most gorgeous thing I've seen on a Broadway stage. Period. It's not to be missed.

Legally Blonde is a night of theatre..
Company is a gimmick concert.
