Nope it sure doesn't!! Had two very strong musicals open in the spring (Sister act and Priscilla) but there is nothing else this year (apart from Too close to the Sun)

I'm sorry but Connie was AWFUL in Sound of Music as far as I'm concerned. I really couldn't believe how wooden her acting was and how underwhelming her voice was. Can't speak about Aoife as I have not seen her in anything, but Louisa you need to get out and hear some proper talented west end actors/actresses if you think Connie is any good!

regarding the 7.2m advance because it has connies name on it i disagree strongly...yes it will help because she is well known..but wherever it goes.."the Sound of Music" will sell because it "The Sound Of Music"

Connie i believe is a one trick pony and will be forever pinned with the sound of music yes she did TPOS but most of the british theatregoers won't have seen her in it - and her tour was cancelled because of poor ticket sales (she couldve done with the 7.2million advance there!)

...the list you've provided louisa - i couldn't name anything else that shes done on television...she did some series a while ago but i for one couldn't tell you about it....

Caught in a Trap for ITV and released on DVD plus Connie co presented on The Hour for STV recently for 5 days.

i'm fully aware that TPOS sold out..i was one of them but they also had alistair mcgowan and the theatre holds 125... but if you ask the majority of the joe bloggs theatre going public many wouldn't have a clue what they're playing our song was about..

i have got my facts right.. but i apoligise for not giving you the professional call centre answer you want to hear "connie needs to rest her vocal cords" the true answer and was that this tours and her previous ticket sales were poor...200 seats were sold in her home town in cardiff and the mayflower never got to 50%

and sorry for overlooking that well known channel STV...but as i don't live in scotland....

You have not got your facts right! Connie did not cancel her concert tour because of poor ticket sales , Connie had to go undergo surgery to save her career!

And another thing Connie did not have a concert in Cardiff so you was WRONG again!

I totally agree Louisa ... she is very much "talented like any other actress".

Wow. I'm surprised that people are taking good news for Aoife as an excuse to slam on Connie. I thought the competition ended three years ago. They both have their own careers now. Love or hate either one of them (I like them both but prefer Connie as Maria), but what good does it do Aoife to put Connie down? She's responsible for her own career now, not Connie's. I'm glad she's got another good role, but really if you think about it, outside the West End she is not really that well-known at all. If she continues to do well, she may become more famous outside of London. I wish her well--it's not a big role but it's a very good one and I hope she does it well (and gets into great shape because she'll need to).

As for Connie, she is doing very well for herself, too. She has done two albums and a well-received TV film, as well as TPOS and various concerts and TV presenting gigs. I think the SOM tour's record-breaking ticket sales are largely due to her (with the comparison of ticket sales on her performance days vs. the alternate's as prime evidence of this). I saw her live as Maria and thought she was excellent, and I will be seeing her again on the tour. If anyone else disagrees, they don't have to go see her, but I think it's pointless to tear her down as a way of building Aoife up. That accomplishes nothing but starting endless ridiculous arguments. Why not let both ladies get on with their careers, go see whichever one (or both) that you want to see, and let their careers speak for themselves?

OK, My 2 pence on Connie
I would have rather seen anyone else in the Maria role, her acting was wooden. She has done well because its 'Her of the telly'

Sher is now going back in to the Sound Of Music because not much theatre work is forthcoming.

Yes she did cancel her tour due to very low sales, i know that for a fact (in some 2000 seater theatres she had sold around 200 tickets)

She annoyed me with her bragging she could do all the shows or at least most of them, which then forced Emma Williams to quit the Sound Of Music (someone i would have much rather seen in the role). Though when push came to shove she could not handle it.

Her TV acting was laughable but the program itself was fun

As for LB
The show is on the wrong theatre, they needed a hige Marquee to push this show but wont get one as there is no space.

I think it will do a year in London and do huge business on tour.
Saying that, ive heard from a mate at the Palace in London in Bookings that Priscilla' s sales are not the best for the summer, and Hairspray has also strated to see a dip, so you never know

Also i dont think a show like Oliver carries the same kind of audience LB does

Disagree with you there. I think it will last at the very least a year, probably longer. Blonde IS comedy, and the film was quite popular. I think people are underestimating the target audience of this show. It's not just teens, its for families, couples, hen nights the lot.
