I was reviewing the 'what's new' section (merchandise)on www.broadwaynewyork.com and it had "Lennon" shirts and posters and such. But it also had next to each item "Discontinued". I'm guessing this means we're about to get a closing notice.
I will cry. Seriously, I will.
The grosses/attendance has been horrible.
But it would be sad - so quick.
This is a serious sign, I should never go to previews or hang out with broadway stars ever again before their shows start. First Little Women, and now Chuck Cooper and Lennon.
Chuck Cooper needs a show to call his own. What about revamping "King: The Musical" ?

Then stay away from "Lestat"...it doesn't sound very promising! Hugh Panaro notwithstanding! ;o)

They are not only discounted, they are out of print. Me thinks closing norice VERY soon if they have stopped producing merch. so sad. only the good die young.
It really just depends on how proud/stubborn the producers are. I would close the show right now if I were them. Sales are awful, and it doesn't look like it will get any better.
Come on, Lennon!

I think that those items were discontinued because they don't use the logo with the glasses and nose anymore as they did in the earlier run of the show.

seriously, would anyone be shocked if this show got the axe in the next couple of weeks?

no. I can see it happening very soon. I am just happy it is getting a CD. I really would have loved to see this show but I have a feeling its not gonna make it until mid-september when I can see it.
sad,

i would seriously cry if it closed so soon i love this show to pieces, but like luckydave said they no longer use that logo so that could be why.
Ack...that is so sad. I really hope it will last till at least the first week of September. I HAVE to see it one last time before it closes (and buy all the good merchandise).

I'm sure it would do well in tours (if it happens) since not all the Lennon (singer) fans lives in NY
It's been up on the papering service lately...Not the best sign.

Some shows really should be sent to an early grave.
"I'm sure it would do well in tours (if it happens) since not all the Lennon (singer) fans lives in NY"
Fans of John Lennon, the singer, tend not to be the people who loved this show. Quite the contrary. People who loved this show, as far as I can tell, seem to be fans of various actors on the stage.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Lennon CD helped keep this show a sort of cult favorite, but seriously...
They should bow out. I mean, those ticket sales have been brutal...when you've just opened and you're unable to break 60% attendance...WITH PAPERING...that ain't good.
I can't wait to see this show, good or bad. I'm just interested to see what all this fuss is about...

*sigh*
A friend of mine is working merch at Lennon. She said they are changing the visuals and that's the reason for the discontinued shirts.
MEF! I'm in your signature! awww!
I did not think Lennon was a good show, but it was very entertaining. If you love the music of Lennon, you will have a great time.
A shame!
Wow, that would be fast. But from what I hear... only Yoko really likes the show....
Oh, so Yoko told ya, huh?
Seriously, what sort of thing is that to say?
