"Lennon" Closing Notice Soon?

It's not supposed to be a biography exactly. It's the telling of John's life through his words.

And yes, Chad Kimball absolutely adorable

I saw Chad Kimball in Bryant Park and I think his parents sat in front of me. They were cheering for him.
He is very talented.

A concert might work. They could fill in the diologue by giving Terry and Julia more songs.

But really, I love this show and I hope it finds a gimmick to boost sales.

If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

if they close it soon, id say they'd better jump start the tour, i think this show could sell well on tour.

If it closes this soon, that's a tell-tale sign that it needs a LOT of tweaking before it goes anywhere. Hell, even if it makes it a year, it's still in need of a lot of tweaking.

I know the foreigners seem to be into getting tickets for it, hopefully that will help keep it alive in the short term?

Unless you aren't paying attention to some of the threads on the boards re LENNON, you should know that there are quite a few of us who not only like, but LOVE this show.

I sure hope that Featlah's friend is correct about the reason for the merchandising change.

PS: although one of the reasons I saw this show in the first place was to see a couple of the performers (especially one of them), the show is sooooo good that I keep returning because of ALL of the performers AND the story of John Lennon.

Although it was short, he had an incredible life, and it's portrayed very well. For any of you who think that it's sanitized, you're entitled to your opinion; but he is shown with flaws and also some indiscretion; but in order to include every part of his life in full blown form, whether it's the Beatles era, more about drugs and cheating...it doesn't matter. The show would be about 4 hours long, and then we would have people complaining about the length of it.

It's terrific the way it is for a lot of us! Hopefully, enough to make a difference in its run.

My friend was a Wicked fanatic, but after she say this - it is her all time favorite show. She walked away wanting to see it over and over. Of course, she is a John Lennon freak.

I saw it for her and for Julia and Mandy. I walked away from it without much feeling. I enjoyed it, but it was basically a biography... The music was very good though, I'll see it again before it closes, but it's not my favorite show. I do hope the attendance goes up and it stays open though. It is entertaining.

Theatreboi I don't think anyone answered you question "What is papering?".
This is when the producers provide free tickets to keep the house numbers up. Usually press tickets but also anyone who may influence theatre goers e.g. travel agencies, hotels etc.

I see this show making it at least to the holidays, what with the big John related anniversary's coming up (25th of his death, his 65th birthday). There's sure to be events in and around the city that the show will market to. I think they'll wait out to see if they pay off.

I enjoy the show, the music is good, the cast is good. It reminds me of Godspell in the way that it's told.

If they close before going past 12 weeks of performances, they can't secure the rights to tour, hence my earlier statement.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Just came back from seeing the show tonight, I really don't
understand - - the music is sooo powerful, cast is filled with
energy and love for what they are doing, you could feel that in
your very seats at the theatre. I hope attendance picks up - - - I would
hate to see this show close, I would be very disappointed. People around me were crying and cheering at the same time, It must be
doing SOMETHING right !

I am glad to see more and more people coming away from this show with good thigns to say. I happen to love this show and the performers involved. The music is fabulous and to hear it sung by such an amazing cast is wonderful every time I see the show.

on a side note... has anyone heard anything lately about whether they are recording or not (like in the past week or so) because the last I had heard (from a very reliable source) was very vague about whether they are recording or not. I really think a cast recording would be great advertisement for this show because the music and the voices are so powerful (but then again I am not a producer, so what do I know... hahaha). Anybody have any new info?

The reasoning for the discontinuing of some of the merchandise IS because the logo used in SF is not being produced anymore to be sold. So it's no longer available.

I, as well, would be devastated if it were to close. I love it, it's so powerful. And to the person who said that "only Yoko" likes the show... Yeah, uh huh... and she's also the only member of the "Lennonite" fanbase too. She pretends to be different people praising the show online so it looks like more people like it than they do. You are ever-so right...

But moving on, this show deserves to be around for much longer, as does this spectacular cast. For any Julia fans, she totally wrote a letter to me to be posted for her fans here:
http://www.livejournal.com/community/julia_murney/21865.html

I just thought I'd post that for anyone who'd like to hear directly from a cast member. No matter what the critics say or how slow this show is gaining momentum, audiences are STILL loving it for the most part! People need to stop with the pointless attacks on it and actually give it a chance. It may just surprise you.

The only reason I am not adamently professing my hate for jukeboxes and my hope that one day they will completely cease to exist is my inner conflictions over my love for Terrence Mann and my hate of the genre. Sorry if my adament hatred is annoying....I feel like I should stop going onto every jukebox thread I find and showing my hatred...lol--maybe I'll just not read them anymore

Thanks for posting that Starbuck. The stuff about the cast recording is pretty much the same info I heard from another cast member. They really don't know whether they are going to record or not. PLEASE RECORD THIS SHOW!

It's great to hear from Julia. The cast really seems to be enjoyign themselves and I think the fans really make them feel good about what they are doing (even after everything that they have been through with reviews and stuff).

SERIOUSLY, I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS.

Why are so many of you always all, "When are they posting a closing notice?!" WHY DO YOU CARE SO D*MN MUCH? Is it a matter of your life and death? Why can't you zone your concentration on something positive instead of counting down until the day a show puts it's closing notice up?

Yes, I'm an advocate for this show, but I've stopped caring about all the Lennon-haters because most (not all, but most) of them are sh*theads who haven't even seen the show. That's what I hear, "I haven't seen the show yet, but I hear it's bad! Don't go see it!" God d*mn it! Just let people decide for themselves! And I've also stopped trying to tell people why I love it so much, I'm not sure I can really put it into words, and I don't really feel the f***ing need to justify my feelings to people anymore.

I'm so sick of this sh*t! Updated On: 8/25/05 at 01:18 AM

I can see why they should get a closing notice soon. I saw this production last night and it was not good at all. UGH!!! Thank God I didn't pay anything for it.

I love the way people think that because they didn't like it, it should close. Lennon does already have a lot of fans, many of them (including me) who have already seen it multiple times and will continue to go back.
