Has anyone else read Aaron Lazar's actors blog? Really seems liek a nice guy. Intelligent too.
Well my sister (bwaylover86) beat me to it but nope, there was no barricade again tonight. They really ought to bring it back! Luckily the actors are all very nice and willing to get to everyone. Daphne seemed to have given up on personalizing autographs . . . whether that was b/c she was mobbed, had friends waiting, or there are just too many people I don't know. But she was still friendly and still handing out fliers, lol. Victor was amazing and when they announced him they said that he had only three days of rehearsal. When we met him I asked him, "Really, only three days?" and his answer? Less! He said he had only rehearsed up to a certain point in the show (less than half I believe) when they told him he was going on. I never would have guessed.
Also, and I realize this may be the wrong place for this . . . I thought Daphne was beyond good. Granted, I have never seen this show before or heard any recording of it and granted I am a huge fan of hers BUT I thought she was phenominal. I actually thought it was just about the best I have ever heard her sound. At intermission I only heard one negative comment about her and it was just that she was too "hoarse and breathy". Same person said that she was the weakest Fantine he had seen. But I guess you can't please everyone!
Sad to hear that Alex Gemignani is ill, wish him a speedy recovery! Seeing it Tuesday, hope he'll be back in by then, but if not, interested to see what Victor Hawks brings to the role.
How long has Alex been out for now, 3 performances?
Yes, since yesterday morning he's been sick.
I'm glad I missed that stage door tonight after the show. I'll catch them someday but tonight I had work to do . . .

Oh, me! I stage doored! I actually didn't write a review like I had planned, so I might as well talk about the stage door (This all happened on Friday, November 10th). So I got autographs from basically all the principles. Daphne...she was an angel. She looked at me, and said, "I really like to look at the people I'm signing autographs for. What's your name?" I said, "Angela." She then signed "To Angela" on the Playbill. I mean, I suddenly felt so bad! People are trashing her (I wasn't crazy about her performance either, but oh well), and all it looks like she wants to do is please her fans. What a sweetheart. And very pretty. I took some pictures on my cell, I'll have to put them on fan photos. Um, Adam Jacobs was a hottie, but what's new? And there was NO barricade, which scared the bejesus out of Celia! I mean, barricade or not, people should know better than to stampede right up to the actor, thrusting a playbill in their face (I'm laughing while typing this). Celia was the first one out, and she was holding tons of flowers. She got so freaked by all the girls (mostly) running over, that she dropped the flowers right at my mom's feet! Anyway, it was pretty funny. Poor Celia!
My friend Marissa and I had a nice long chat with Ali Ewoldt. She started signing our Playbills, and then I told her we go to her old high school. She was so excited! We said that all the teachers and students are so proud of her, and she really looked touched. Not many people from that little town come see shows too often, so it must have felt good to know we care about her.
So Aaron also had a funny story, he kept looking for a huge group of his friends, found them, lost them again (everytime someone tried to take a picture with him, he could barely focus!), and finally found them again. And Alex, who gave a heck of a performance that night, was kind of coughing, and said, "I really need a day off!" Which is why his being off last night got me thinking. Oh well. That's his business. So, what a night at Les Miz! Can't wait to see it again!
Now that is the Daphne I know! Today was the first time I have seen her give an autograph without personalizing it. Every other autograph I have from her has my name and either a heart or an xoxo or love or with love (you get the idea!) and then she signs. Today was just a quick "hi, thanks for coming" and a signature. She did ask if we had her cd and was happy that I already had it but then she was off. Not really like her, but like I said she had a couple of friends there and a mob of fans around her so can't really blame her. She is such a nice lady!
Daphne was really nice at the stagedoor last night. She made sure not just to sign people's playbills, she really tried to chat with everyone. She was really funny. "This show is so great; it's actor-proof. So everyone's happy, even if I suck." The girl she was talking to said, "But you didn't' you were great!" She looked really touched.
Everyone seemed nice at the Les Miz stagedoor.
OH! I think I would have had to give her a hug if she said that (even if I sucked) in front of me. I know she got some really mixed (official) reviews but you have to wonder if she ever hops on message boards like this one and sees what people are saying about her. She really is so nice to meet . . . I have perviously had some very nice chats with her. Tonight she seemed more rushed, but did make sure that everyone got an autograph and a smile and hello and all that good stuff. Although she wasn't as chatty as I have seen her before she still had more to say than more than half of the other people I got autographs from!
Seeing as I live in the otherside of the country, I decided to try and write Daphne via the theater since I can't actually stage door. Sounds like so far she is great in person, so hopefully I might hear back from her.

She is pretty good about answering e-mail so I would guess you have a good shot at hearing back from her!
Has anyone else read Aaron Lazar's actors blog?
Yes. His pretentiousness makes me laugh. (Whether he intends to or not, that's how he comes across...)
You think? I didn't find but I only read a couple of them.

And there was NO barricade, which scared the bejesus out of Celia!
Aw poor Celia. She is one of the sweetest people and should not have to go through that. Especially since she is so tiny. I can just picture the scene in my head. Here's to hoping the barricade is back soon, for the actors's sakes.
Maybe it was easier to tell at the stage door, but how tall is Victor Hawks?
Well he was quite a bit taller than me, but I'm only 5'3, so not such a big accomplishment there!

Many of the cast arrive (at the stage door) about 40-45 minutes before the performance [including a not-scheduled-to-perform Young Cosette and a Gavroche to be available as stand-ins].
They were all so nice. Aaron happened to arrive with Ali, and they both posed for a young, excited fan's photo.
I was able to greet many of them and wish them well, by I chose to stop only Celia for her autograph. A personal thrill, for me. ( Hail Celia! ).
Adam Jacobs arrived at 2:30. I didn't think fast enough to say "Adam, you're late!" or "Marius, you're late!".
Victor Hawks appeared to be maybe 5' 9". But when I saw him arrive (I'm pretty sure it was him) I recognized him only as the bald guy from Thenardier's Gang (I didn't even know his name -- Brujon).
p.s. I love Celia's Eponine. She seems to me to be portraying Eponine as two steps up from Anybodys, Tomboy of West Side Story, rather than a half-step down from Cosette. ( I think Eponine is slightly younger than Cosette -- and remember, she (at least when wrapped in her overcoat) does get mistaken for a boy). Celia is perfect.
They are a great group of people, that's for sure I am wenjoying reading others expieriences with them at the door.
I hope Alex recovers quickley and is not to ill.
Hopefully with Monday being an off-day Alex will have some extra time to get better! I would love to see him back on stage tomorrow night!
40-45 minutes before hand, huh? I'm going to be at POTO Wednesday evening. Maybe I will get to see some the Les Mis cast heading in. Hmmm . . . :)
You know student rush tickets? Are they available for all shows? Because I wanna see it again if I can but only if I dont have to pay so much again.I dont know the workings of student rush...

Not all shows have student rush. Talkinbroadway has all the information about which shows have rush/lotto/sro.
I went through a school function on Sunday, and since teachers were there I had no chance of waiting at the stage door.
And considering how much I admire Gary Beach (you can't even imagine), you can imagine I wanted to cry.
But me and a friend "got stuck" and waited for about 10 minutes until I realized it was a matinee and they had another show in an hour and a half from then. And plus, the most annoying teacher on the face of this planet found us and told us we had to go.
I was really upset.
I hope beyond hope I get to stage door it though.
I can't wait to stage door on Saturday night. There are two things I hope for:
(a)The entire cast (Esp. Gary Beach and Daphne) and no understudies (Selfish, I know, but we all know that we want that!)
(b)A SOUVENIR PROGRAM FOR THE STARS TO SIGN!
...how many of these wishes will come true? We shall see...

No program, but Gary and Daphne will most likely be there barring all unforseen complications.
